TRIGONOMETRIC FOMULA’S
• Trigonometry formulas are equations that relate the trigonometric ratios (sine, cosine, tangent, etc.) to
each other and to angles. There are many different formulas, but some of the most important ones
include:
• Double angle identities
• Sum and difference identities
• Unit circle formulas
• Basic trigonometric ratios
BASIC TRIGONOMETRIC RATIOS
Basic trigonometric ratios relate the sides of a right triangle to the angles within that triangle. There are
three main ones: sine (sin), cosine (cos), and tangent (tan).
• Sine (sin)
• Cosine (cos)
• Tangent (tan)
• Cosecant (cosec θ)
• Secant (sec θ)
• Cotangent (cot θ)
SINE
• Navigation: Trigonometry is crucial for determining directions, calculating distances between points
(like finding a ship’s location at sea), and even figuring out compass headings for travel.
• Physics: Many areas of physics utilize trigonometry, including analyzing wave behavior (light, sound),
projectile motion, and resolving forces into components
• Engineering and Construction: From designing bridges and buildings to analyzing forces and stresses in
materials, trigonometry is essential for ensuring structural stability and efficiency
• Surveying and Mapping: Creating accurate maps and determining land areas relies on trigonometric
calculations to measure distances and angles across various terrains.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, trigonometric ratios (sine, cosine, tangent, cotangent, secant, and cosecant) provide a
powerful tool for analyzing right-angled triangles and understanding relationships between their sides and
angles. They offer a concise way to express these relationships and solve for missing side lengths or angles.
Beyond right triangles, trigonometry extends its usefulness to various fields. From navigation
and engineering to physics and astronomy, trigonometric ratios play a fundamental role in analyzing
periodic phenomena and solving problems involving angles and distances.
