manufacture. The stock of the polyethylene sleeve shall be rotated on the first
in/first out basis.

2.16 VALVES

A. All Sluice Valves required under this clause shall be supplied according to
the specification Section 21 05 23- GENERAL DUTY VALVES FOR FIRE PROTECTION
PIPING.

B. A complete set of bolts and nuts and one gasket shall be supplied to each flange.
Gaskets shall be of rubber reinforced with cotton and of thickness not less than
3mm.

C. The Contractor shall submit with his offer detailed information and technical
information on the design of each type of valves.

2.17 MANHOLE COVERS & SURFACE BOXES

A. Manhole covers shall be round with a clear opening of 610mm diameter.


1. The cover and frame shall be made of ductile iron heavy duty. The test load of
the above manholes shall be according to BS 497 of 1976 and the material
shall be of ductile iron to KSS 152-1982 Gr. 500-7.
2. The top of the cover shall be marked with the letters PAI.
3. The cover and frame shall be protected with 2 coats of black epoxy paint over a
primer.

2.18 SURFACE BOXES (FOR VALVES)

A. Surface box cover and frame shall be made of cast iron.


1. It shall conform to BS.3461, Fig. 3, type 'D'. heavy pattern.
2. It shall be of square shape with clear opening of 22.5 x 22.5 cm.
3. The cover and frame shall be protected with 2 coats of black epoxy paint over
primer.

2.19 MARKER POST

A. Marker post shall be manufactured from steel channel as detailed in the


standard drawing.

B. Each post will be supplied with a steel backing plate use for SV and FH,

C. Each post will be supplied with:-


1. Six (6) Nos. Of M-8 x 30mm long counter sunk bolts with hexagon drive.
2. Four (4) Nos. of M-6 x 30mm long slotted round head bolts with nuts and
spring washers.

D. All posts and backing plates are to be grit blasted prior to the application of a
suitable three stages epoxy paint system. The color shall be light aircraft gray color
Code RAL7035.
