Dear friends!
I want to thank you so much for the purchase.
This pattern doesn’t contain crochet lessons.
For working on this pattern, basic crochet skills are required.
Skills level – intermediate.
Any child will be happy with such a plush backpack. Crochet it as a gift to
someone or for your child.
This backpack would be a great gift for US Independence Day, as it is made
in the colors of the US flag.

Recommended materials and tools


 Super Bulky/Super Chunky/14ply chenille yarn HIMALAYA DOLPHIN BABY
(100g/120m) – 1/2 skeins of red color (No. 352), 1/2 skein of white color (No.
301) and Super Bulky/Super Chunky/14ply chenille yarn WOLANS Bunny Baby
(100g/120m) – 1 skein of blue color (No. 100-68)
 Sport weight/4ply yarn YarnArt JEANS or Alize Cotton Gold of white and
red color – a little for the straps.
 Sewing needle
 Hook size 4.5 mm by Clover
 Wooden button 20 mm
 Wooden buttons 15 mm (2 pcs.)

Note:
— Work in continuous rounds, in rows and in a spiral.
— The size of the backpack - 20 cm wide (7.9 ‘’), 24 cm high (9.4 ‘’).
— At the beginning of the round, use a marker or thread of a different color so
that you can see where the beginning of the round is.

Abbreviations:
ch – chain

inc – increase

Tip: If plush yarn crumbles, use cotton thread matching color to sew
on pieces.

FLAP
Crochet with blue yarn. Work in rows.
1) ch2, crochet 5 sc into the 2nd ch from the
hook. Do not pull the ring. Turn. (5)
2) t-ch, 1 sc, inc * 4, turn (9)
3) t-ch, (sc, inc) * 4, 1 sc, turn (13)
4) t-ch, (2 sc, inc) * 4, 1 sc, turn (17)
5) t-ch, (3 sc, inc) * 4, 1 sc, turn (21)
6) t-ch, (4 sc, inc) * 4, 1 sc, turn (25)

BACKPACK
Crochet with blue yarn.
Ch20. Start on the second chain from the hook:

STRAPS (two pieces)
Work in three threads: blue chenille yarn, white and red cotton yarn.
This way the straps will not stretch when worn.
Work in rows.
1) ch75, start from the second chain on the hook: 74 sc, turn (74)
2-4) t-ch, 74 sc (3 rows)
You can make the straps longer or shorter. Make more or less chains.
My straps are 58 cm long.
Cut the yarn. Leave the end for sewing pieces.
Sew the straps at the top along the edges of the flap on the blue
stripe, at the bottom on the red stripe, symmetrically to the top.

HANDLE
Crochet with blue yarn. Work in rows.
1) ch21, start from the second chain on the hook: 20 sc, turn (20)
2-3) t-ch, 20 sc (20 rows)
Cut the yarn. Leave the end for sewing pieces.
Sew on the handle.

CORD
Crochet with blue yarn.
Ch150. Step back at the top of the backpack 2 rounds and stretch the cord
between the stitches, after folding the backpack, as shown in the photo.
Sew a button between rounds 23 and 27.
Place beads on the ends of the cord and tie knots.

STAR
Rays (make 5)
Crochet with white yarn.
1) ch2, crochet 4 sc into the 2nd ch from the hook (4)
2) (1 sc, inc) * 2 (6)
3) (2 sc, inc) * 2 (8)
4) (3 sc, inc) * 2 (10)
5) (4 sc, inc) * 2 (12)
6) 12 sc (15), sl st.

Crochet 5 rays, cut the yarn on four pieces, leaving the end 15cm long.
Do not cut the yarn on the 5th ray, we will connect the rays together and
crochet the body.
Note! In the next round, when connecting the rays, start crocheting
from the first stitch of the round on each ray (where the yarn end is left).
7) 5 sc on the 1st ray, 5 sc on the 2nd ray, 5 sc on the 3rd ray, 5 sc on the
4th ray, 5 sc on the 5th ray. (25)

Place a marker.
8) (3 sc, dec) * 5 (20)
9) dec * 10 (10)
10) dec * 5 (5)
Cut the yarn.
Tighten the hole, weave in the yarn ends.
Stuff the rays.
Now connect the rays from the back side. Hide
the ends inside.
On each ray on both sides leave one sc. We will
work along the central 5 stitches.
Attach the white yarn to the ray.
1) 5 sc on the 1st ray, 5 sc on the 2nd ray, 5 sc on the
3rd ray, 5 sc on the 4th ray, 5 sc on the 5th ray. (25)
2) (3 sc, dec) * 5 (20)
Sew up the holes with the remaining threads.

4) dec * 5 (5)
Stuff the star.
Cut the yarn. Leave the end for sewing pieces.
Sew the star onto the flap. Sew not through, but
through the outer loops on the flap, so that the
stitches are not visible from the wrong side.
