Mixtures are composed of different substances that are
physically combined. They can either be homogeneous or
heterogeneous depending on their appearance. A mixture is
classified as homogeneous when the substances are evenly
distributed. Its components cannot be distinguished from
one another. It appears to be in one uniform phase.
Examples of which are salt solution, vinegar, and bronze. In

individuals called entrepreneurs. Whether they run a
small business like a sari-sari store or a big one like a
computer and software company, they are considered
entrepreneurs.

A product is something that is manufactured
following a process, in order to be sold for a profit. A
service is a facility supplying a public or market

3. Flexibility
A material has this property when it is capable of bending or
being bent. Materials having this property such plastic
strings, thin metal wires, ropes are used to bind or tie things.
4. Elasticity
When a solid material has the ability to return to its original
shape after being stretched, it is considered to be elastic.
Rubber band which is a polymer is a perfect example of this
property.
5. Conductivity
Another property of matter that makes a material conduct
electricity and heat. Metals are the best examples for this
property.
6. Malleability
A material has this property when it has the ability to be
hammered into flat sheets just like gold, silver, iron and
aluminum. Malleable materials can be turned into different
shapes and other desired designs.
7. Ductility It is the ability of the material to be drawn into
thin wires. Metals that exhibit this property are used in
electrical wirings.
8. Porosity
Cloth and sponge are examples of porous materials because
they have the ability to absorb liquids.
Unlike physical properties which can be easily identified
and observed, chemical properties can only be observed
and measured when a material has undergone change in its
composition or becomes another type of material. The
materials given below illustrate the chemical properties of
matter.
1. Combustibility - It is the ability of the material to burn.
Examples of combustible materials are alcohol, wood, dried
leaves, kerosene, oil, sawdust, paper, wax and gasoline.
2. Flammability - It is the ability to ignite or catch fire and
burn easily. Alcohol and gasoline are flammable because
they burn easily.
3. Biodegradability - It is the ability of material to
decompose or decay. Examples of biodegradable materials
are fruit, vegetable peeling, plant clippings, dead plants and
animals.

With the halo-halo and macaroni salad, their ingredients can
be easily distinguished by the naked eye. Their ingredients
come in different forms such as solid and liquid making it
non-uniform in appearance.
Many common household products contain chemicals that
can cause injury or even death if they are not handled,
stored, or used properly. Some household products such as
alcohol, acetone, thinner and muriatic acid contain
hazardous chemicals.
Below are the safety precautions that can help keep you and
your family safe.
1. Read the product labels carefully.
2. Classify the materials according to their use and store
them separately in proper places to avoid contamination or
mishandling.
3. Keep harmful mixtures like pesticides or disinfectant out
of reach from children.
4. Make sure the containers are tightly closed and properly
labeled.
5. Be aware of certain emergency/first aid procedures when
materials are mishandled accidentally.

that are always in demand are food items. Start small
before you think of producing bigger quantities. One
has to practice his skills in food preparation, cooking
and food packaging. In addition, one also has to
observe safety practices in handling, preparing, and
serving food items. Whatever you decide on, you
have to remember to keep your costs down while
