FINALUX-G101

DESCRIPTION : Oleochemical derivative

SPECIFICATIONS : Appearance : Yellowish Liquid

Acid Value : 3 max
Specific Gravity @ 30°C : 0.940 - 0.960

(Slight variations in the specifications stated due to raw materials and production conditions are possible though they have no
influence on the application properties described.)

APPLICATIONS : - Rigid PVC - calendering and extrusion

- Plasticized PVC - calendering, extrusion,
injection moulding

Specially suggested for use in mfg. of ;

- PVC extruded/blown films
- PVC paste preparation
- PVC Medical compounds
- Wetting & dispersing agent for pigments/additives
in various polymers

PROPERTIES : For Rigid and Plasticized PVC

- Internal lubricant
- Very good compatibility
- Suitable for use in transparent products
- Improved free-flowing properties
- Good pigment and filler dispersion
- Marked improvement in the surface condition
(high degree of gloss)
- No influence on the crease-whitening behavior of foils

FOR PVC PASTES : - Very good pigment dispersion

- Favourable influence on the defoaming of the pastes
- Reduction in viscosity, particularly in low ranges of
shearing resistance

FINALUX-G 101 acts as a PVC paste thinner although changes in flow behavior of the
plastisol i.e. a slight increase in dilatance is brought about with FINALUX-G 101. In practice
as an example, in spread coating, improved leveling behind the coating knife is achieved.

The use level in this application is @ 0.5% calculated on PVC + Plasticizer weight.
FINALUX-G 101 is mainly used as pigment dispersing agent in pigment paste for plastisols.

A dosage of 10% of FINALUX-G 101 in relation to DOP results in a pigment paste with a much
reduced viscosity than in a paste made with DOP alone. The effect may be used to reduce
the portion of the liquid phase in pigment pastes.

In Tinting pastes often a separation of the liquid phase during storage takes place.
FINALUX-G 101 as a part of the liquid phase will reduce this phenomenon remarkably when
incorporated in pigment pastes. In PVC plastisols, an improvement in pigment dispersion is
achieved and the formation of agglomerates is avoided. This is due to the probable surface
active properties of FINALUX-G 101 as it is attracted to the hydrophilic surface of Titanium
Dioxide and the remaining alkyl chain of FINALUX-G 101 renders the pigment lipophilic.

The use of FINALUX-G 101 in pigment pastes has resulted in improved colour strength due to
its dispersing properties.

USE LEVEL : Rigid PVC : Between 0.5 and 2 phr

Plasticized PVC : Between 0.5 and 1.5 phr depending on
the degree of plastification
PVC Pastes : 0.5 phr based on the amount of
PVC + Plasticizer

STABILIZATION : Synergistic support with Sn stabilizers (sulphur containing)

NON-APPLICATION : With basic Pb-stabilizers in brightly pigmented rigid PVC

(risk of greying) and with sulphur-free Sn stabilizers of the
maleate type.

APPLICATION IN : FINALUX-G 101 is suggested for use as a wetting agent to

PROCESSING wet the granules while using antistatic agents/antiblock or
POLYOLEFINS slip agents or Mould release agent.

FINALUX-G 101 is an excellent pigment dispersing and

wetting agent especially for Titanium Dioxide and hence is
suggested in pigment masterbatches or similar applications.
However, due to limited compatibility, the dosage suggested
is 0.1 - 0.2%.

The recommendations in this bulletin are made without guarantee since the conditions of use are beyond our control. Users
should make their own tests depending on machinery available and desired properties.
