ZOOM-Alarm
Extension Unit
Annunciation Relays for
Dynamic Parameter Inputs

Applications
• Interfaces with annunciation devices to warn of
alarm conditions (NOT FOR MACHINE TRIP)
• Triggers remote alarm signal in the control room
and/or unit panel

Description Features
The ZOOM-ALARM Extension Unit (AEU) purpose is to • 2-level annunciation system with dedicated relays for
warn operations/maintenance personnel of alarm conditions warning purpose (Alert / Danger) per air gap
on air gap and high speed parameters. Its relay outputs can (AGMS®) or high speed (ZOOM®) input
be used to ring a bell or flash a light in the alarm panel of • Accepts up to 16 pairs of module (Alert / Danger)
the control room.
• SPDT dry contacts
Each AGMS or ZOOM Processing Unit monitors all inputs
• Connects to one or two AGMS or ZOOM
for alarms against user-set thresholds (Alert/Danger) even

for three consecutive rotations, the system sends a trig- • Continuous alarm monitoring performed by
gering signal to the appropriate relay module in the AEU. AGMS or ZOOM Processing Unit even when
the system controller or software is turned off
The AEU consist of one or two sets of up to 16 relays (8 pairs
of Alert/Danger) mounted on a backplane. Each backplane • Modular configuration permits simple customization
is associated to separate AGMS or ZOOM Processing and upgrade
Units. The wall-mounted metallic enclosure is located • Input isolation up to 2500 VRMS
nearby or up to 100 m (300 ft) from its associated
Processing Units. Each relay module contains conditioning
circuitry and a SPDT relay.
