Descriptive specifications
1. GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
The MATICBOX-350 awning brings together a series of innovative characteristics that make it stand out from other con-
ventional systems.

It uses a BOX cassette system, which allows the fabric and the support and extension systems to remain completely
hidden.

The articulated arm system, in conjunction with its other clearly unique characteristics, adds value to result in a top-of-the
-line end product that responds to the needs of today’s professionals in the architecture and decorating sectors.

Its minimalist look is perfectly adapted to new construction designs, allowing it to be fully integrated into the appearance
of the façade and meeting all the requirements so often cited by professionals in these fields. This means that this sun
protection system can be a part of any architectural project from the earliest stages of development.

To all of this we can also add the built-in advantages that the cassette system (BOX) provides in terms of installation, as
well as the ease of adjusting the system’s inclination by means of the patented option known as MATIC, which has been
developed by our technical department.

2. DESCRIPTION OF THE SYSTEM

The MATICBOX-350 awning is a system based on:

■ Support of the load-bearing components using a new technology whereby the system is clipped in place at the bottom

The side brackets anchor the rear of the cassette to the ceiling or wall (different
options), and they incorporate a system using a slotted hexagonal washer. When
tightened down, this allows the position of the bracket to be varied by 360°, with a
margin of 20 millimetres. This patented system, known as CLEVERFIX, has proven
very useful for installation on reinforced concrete walls and other surfaces.

The entire cassette system slides into to the lower part of the brackets attached to
the wall or ceiling, and can be clipped in place using special steel clips. This means
that the system holds itself up in its final installation position, so that the profession-
al installer does not need to support its weight while attaching it permanently with
screws and bolts. The system ensures that the awning is better attached to the surface and is easier to install, since the
product can arrive at the installation site from the production centre almost fully assembled. This considerably reduces
the amount of time dedicated to installation at the final location.

■ Awning adjustment using the MATIC system

This system increases the range of possible inclinations, with the cassette always remaining in the same position and
completely attached to the ceiling, the wall, or both.

■ Protection of the fabric component

The part into which the fabric component is rolled up is surrounded by an aluminium profile, which is why the system is
referred to as a “box”. In this way, when the system is retracted, the fabric is protected from harm from external ele-
ments, and the arms are folded inside the front profile or drop bar profile.

■ Possibility of in-line awning installation

The innovation provided by the unique suspension system of this model eliminates the need to access the system from
the side for levelling or anchoring. This means that for widths exceeding 5 metres, two awnings can be installed one right
next to the other, considerably reducing the distance between the edges of the fabric.

Descriptive specifications
As with any sun protection system, this product also seeks to achieve the greatest suitability in terms of two intrinsic ne-
cessities:

■ Dimensions

■ Exposure to the elements (sun, wind, rain)

To address these factors, the materials chosen in the manufacture of this product have taken on vital importance.

3. DESCRIPTION OF THE PARTS THAT MAKE UP THE MATICBOX-350

The rotational motion applied to the rolling tube when extending or retracting the fabric is activated by means of a gear-
box with a 1:5 ratio, which if required is accompanied by a tubular compensation spring. The awning is then operated by
either a manual crank or an electric motor positioned inside one end of the rolling tube.

The front profile that serves as a guiding element for opening and closing of the system has been designed with an interi-
or chamber, which allows it to be used with widths of up to 5 metres, and which also adds value to the assembly in terms
of aesthetic appeal.

When the awning is extended it is supported on a structure consisting of articulated SPLENDOR-type arms and the corre-
sponding drop bar profile.

The arms consist of profiles with an internal tensioning system that uses
an elongation mechanism, with transmission of the longitudinal difference
by means of a patented flexible tape system. This ensures that the prod-
uct performs well above the applicable European EN 13561 standard.

The articulation of the arms also uses a patented double ball-bearing sys-
tem. This has achieved technical results much superior to those found
with conventional systems.

It is important to mention the functionality of an interior suspension core

as well, which allows all of the various tensioning elements to be com-
pletely concealed when viewed from the exterior.

The final aesthetic result is therefore a significant added value for this SPLENDOR system.

Descriptive specifications
With proper use and under suitable conditions, SPLENDOR arms will exceed 60,000 operational cycles. Also, the appro-
priate angular calculations for their components prevent them from rubbing against the fabric during the entire extension-
retraction process.

An installation with two arms can reach a maximum of up to five metres in width and 3.5 metres of projection.

Assembly instructions
8. PREPARATION OF THE SIDE ASSEMBLIES

Insert the end bracket (A) into the side bracket as-
sembly of the cassette on the corresponding side,
attaching it using the bolts and self-locking nuts, as
shown in the drawing.

B
Next, from the outside of the assembly, attach the
steel plate (B), which will allow the cassette assembly
to be clipped into the brackets.

IMPORTANT

Prior to attaching the steel plate, remember to insert

the square nut in the slot, so that the lower plates can
be bolted in at the end of the installation.

Using the two bolts, insert the HiPro motor bracket (C)
into the other side of the bracket assembly.

C B

Attach it from the outside using the corresponding wash-

ers and nuts. The bolts must be positioned in a vertical
line so that their nuts do not interfere when the steel
plate (B) is attached.

IMPORTANT

Remember to insert the square nut prior to attaching the

steel plate.

Assembly instructions

If the motorised operating system is not included,

use an MR-5 type gearbox mechanism (D) with a
compensation spring inside the rolling tube.

The motor must only be attached with the bolts

arranged diagonally.

Insert the fabric protector (E) into the interior of the cassette
profile, as shown in the figure, making sure to clip it onto the
edge of the profile. This is where the fabric will be supported
when the cassette is opened and closed.

F
Next, from the side, insert the assembly (F) consisting of the
rolling tube, the bearing, the motor, and the fabric, which has
already been prepared.

The motor must have the gearwheel and the adapter crown
corresponding to the selected tube attached.

Guide the end of the fabric through the slot, as seen in the fig-
ure.

9. ASSEMBLY OF THE CASSETTE USING THE CLIPS

Position the cassette side assembly and attach it to

the profile, using the five screws.

Place the motor head inside of the HiPro bracket,

and mount it using the attachment clip (G). The clip
should enter through the opening in the side brack-
G et, as seen in the figure.

H
Remove the cap over the spring opening in the arm fork, and replace it with the cap with the incorporated cam.

IMPORTANT The cam piece only works properly on the left or right side, and must be positioned as seen in the pho-
to (in this case, left arm). Also attach the end pieces (H) to the forward part of the arm.

Remove the pin or shaft that attaches the arm fork, and note that this model has two tightening studs:

an internal one (I), which is used to level the height of the arm joint, and an external one (J), which secures the
pin within the bracket and acts as a limit for the first one.

10. DROP BAR INSTALLATION AND END ADJUSTMENT

Insert the fabric into the slot on the drop bar, and
insert the corresponding attachment plate so that the
ends of each arm can be attached. Pay attention to
the letter on the end:

(L= left, R= right)

Secure the fabric within the profile at both ends

using the corresponding spreader and screw,
making sure that the head of the screw goes in-
side of the slot.

Using the attachment plate with two holes, attach

the profile side caps to the profile. Notice in the
drawing that the closure plate (K) is attached with
the first screw, and the second (L) is used to tight-
en the profile assembly.

Press the rubber closure gasket into the groove

made for it in the cassette profile.

This gasket prevents noise when the MATICBOX

cassette assembly closes, and also makes the
system more watertight.

Assembly instructions

There is also a groove in the lower front part of the cassette pro-
file, where a profile diffuser (M) can be inserted as an accessory
or to protect an LED light strip system.

Use pressure to clip the plates onto the

front drop bar profile, matching them to the
position of the arm joints when the cas-
sette is closed.

Installation instructions
11. ATTACHING THE BRACKETS TO THE WALL OR CEILING

Perform these steps carefully; the quality of the installation largely depends upon them.

The positions of the two brackets must line up in parallel in all directions (horizontal, vertical, and inclination).

The supports have two levelling systems (N), protected by patent under the name CLEVERFIX, so that once the
bracket is attached with the mounting component (bolt, stud with nut, etc.), but prior to final tightening, the CLEV-
ERFIX system can be turned to vary the position of the bracket both vertically and horizontally. This allows an
adjustment margin of about 20 mm.

To adjust the inclination, check the verticality of the wall where it is being attached, or check whether the ceiling
is horizontal for ceiling mounted installations.

IMPORTANT

Check to make sure that the self-locking nuts (O),

which are installed with polyamide washers, are insert-
ed in each of the brackets.

P Next, two people are required to lift the cassette

assembly into a parallel position, lining up the
bracket guides with those on the cassette, so that
the attachment clips (P), when bent, can pass
through the projections on the brackets and clip the
assembly to the brackets.

AT THIS POINT THE CASSETTE CAN BEAR ITS

OWN WEIGHT

12. ANCHORING AND FINAL ADJUSTMENT

Since the cassette assembly is being held up

by the attachment clips, it is now easy to
thread the two bolts (Q) into the self-locking
nuts.

Notice that the cassette assembly raises slight-

ly after this step is performed, as the attach-
ment clips have been relieved of their load-
bearing function.

Attach the bottom decorative cover.

To do this, the bolts (R) are threaded into the nuts

located behind the attachment clip (see assembly
instructions step 1, piece (B)).

Setting the inclination of the arms is easily per-

formed using an M-10 allen wrench on the bolts
located on the front of the arm bracket.

This is another added feature of this cassette,

which makes it easy to vary the arm inclination
both during and after installation.
