Billy’s Materials List 2020 / 2021

These are the up to date materials that I use with links to best suppliers.

• A large water pot and a dab pad (old flannel to dab the brush onto).
• Magic eraser foam, just in case! Supermarkets carry this.
• Hot pressed paper, 140lb, 200lb or 300lb in white (100% cotton is best as
it has the most resilience). Currently I am using the 200lb (425gms)
Saunders Waterford hot pressed. Fabriano Artistico is not now
recommended as at the moment it is not performing well despite my

It’s important that you try a few papers to find the one that suits you best. I
also sell and use A5 and A4 Bockingford hot pressed paper, it is a good
every day paper. Use scraps to test your colours. billyshowell.com
• Brushes – Billy Showell brushes size 2, 4 and 6. Billy synthetic - I have
decided to use only synthetic brushes from now on for ethical and
sustainability reasons. I will keep my sable brushes and use them until they
are worn but won’t be advertising them or selling them once the stock has
cleared. I also have the Billy Showell eradicator brush, the fine liner, Devine
wash and mixer, all my brushes are available from my website here:
