Introduction In current society, it is a really common phenomenon

that some individuals tend to/spare no effort to work
harder than their mates whether in their studies or
work. The essay will delve into the reasons for this
trend. In my opinion, I do appreciate their hard work
ability but I do not agree with the view that working
hard is always a good thing.

Main idea 1 reasons:

1. social cultures
2. willingness and life demanded ---sense of
satisfaction/promotion/progress
3. notion/belief (perspectives)---the harder.... the

Some people work harder than others for various

reasons. Firstly, trying one’s best to achieve their goals is
widely regarded as a virtue in some social cultures. In
China, for example, parents and teachers always feel
satisfied with children who work harder/ are more
diligent than others. This preference/ appraisal system
plays an important role in students’ behaviour and even
stays in their subconscious. Furthermore, people in
those situations hold a belief that the harder they work,
the better future they will have. Therefore, individuals
persuade themselves to make more efforts when they
are at schools or in the job markets.

There is no denying that.../ It is undoubted that...make

greater progress. However,..... have negative impacts on
personal and professional development.

There is no denying that this phenomenon brings many

benefits as it can afford one to make greater progress
and move on to a higher level. However, it has adverse
impacts on one’s personal and professional
development. For one thing, people would suffer from
mental and physical well-being if they pay full attention
to their work or study in a highly competitive
environment (intensively 高强度). Thus, they would find
it difficult to balance their work and life/ to keep work-
life balance. Moreover, working harder is likely to
worsen peer competition, causing someone who are less
competitive tend to take shortcuts, such as using fake
data to make roundabouts.

Conclusion In conclusion, there are various reasons/factors that

lead to the prevalence of working hard nowadays. From
my perspective, I would suggest that too much hard
work may negatively affect one’s personal and career
growth. It would be reasonable to take proper action to
make our goals achieved.

It has been a common phenomenon that in modern society an

increasing number of people tend to spend less time in their homes.
There are many reasons for this trend, such as dealing with time-
demanded job and having few conversations with their family members.
