All jobsite work activity must be in full compliance with Otis World Wide Jobsite
Safety Standards (WWJSSS). When carrying out this procedure, particular
consideration should be given to control of the elevator, LOTO, hoisting and
rigging, ensuring public safety (signs and barriers), working in close proximity of
unguarded rotating equipment (sheaves) and the wearing of appropriate PPE
(hand gloves, etc.). It is required that the mechanic(s) carrying out the repair
complete the appropriate JHA for the task at hand to familiarize themselves with
the work environment. If you are unsure of the WWJSSS standards in regard to
the work task at hand, immediately stop work and consult your Supervisor.

Introduction

RS module-based assemblies (RS3, RS4, RS5, RS14) include a dipswitch for module
addressing instead of the original method of cutting jumpers. Note that setting a
dipswitch to “ON” is the equivalent of cutting the corresponding address jumper
(an “ON” switch position sets a “1” bit in the binary representation of the address
number).

Figure 1: Module Addressing vs. Cutting Jumpers

In order to add devices to remote stations, it may be necessary to order the mating
board connectors (see Table 1). Use Table 1 to determine connectors used with the
various remote station boards.
