DROPS Cardigan in Cotton Chenille

(100% cotton), 50 g.
500 (550, 600) g. col. 14, pistachio

Alternative yarn:
DROPS TYNN CHENILLE
(90% cotton, 10% polyester) 50 g
450 (500, 550) g. Col. 909, olive
Numbers/measurements for Tynn Chenille are in [ ].

DROPS 4 mm [2.5 mm] circular needles, or size needed to obtain correct gauge.

6 DROPS »Kokos» buttons (button No. 515)

Gauge: 14 sts x 26 rows in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm


[20 sts x 32 rows in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm

Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.

Buttonholes: Space 6 buttonholes as follows:


1 cm all sizes
8.5 (8.5-10) cm
16.5 (16.5-18.5) cm
24.5 (24.5-27) cm
32.5 (32.5-35.5) cm
40 (40-44) cm
Form buttonholes on right front band as follows: Bind off 3rd and 4th [3rd, 4th and 5th] stitch
and cast on 2 [3] new sts over the bound-off sts on the next row.

Pattern (seen from the right side):


Rows 1-20 [1-25]: *12 [17] sts stockinette st, 12 [17] reverse stockinette sts*, repeat from *-*.
Rows 21-40 [26-50]: *12 [17] sts reverse stockinette st, 12 [17] sts stockinette st*, repeat from
*-*.
Repeat these 40 [50] rows.

Body: Cast on 154-166-178 [218-235-252] sts (including 5 [7] edge sts on either side for the
front bands) and knit 3 [2] cm in garter st. Keep the 5 [7] sts on each edge in garter st for the
front bands and remember to knit the buttonholes on the right front (see instructions above).
Change to pattern stitch (see above). When the work measures 24-24-27 cm, knit the next row
as follows: 39-42-45 [56-60-64] sts for the front, bind off 4 [4] sts for armhole, 68-74-80 [98-
107-116] sts for the back, bind off 4 sts for armhole, 39-42-45 [56-60-64] sts for the front. Knit
the rest of each part separately.

Fronts: = 39-42-45 [56-60-64] sts. Bind off at armhole edge 2 sts every other row 1-1-1 [1-1-2]
times, then 1 st 0-1-2 [1-3-3] times = 37-39-41 [53-55-57] sts. When the work measures 41-41-
45 cm, bind off at the neck edge every other row: 5-5-6 [8-8-9] sts once, 3 sts 0 [1] time, 2 sts
3 [3] times, then dec 1 st 4 [4] times. Bind off all sts when the work measures 49-49-53 cm.

Back: = 68-74-80 [98-107-116) sts. Shape armholes as for the fronts = 64-68-72 [92-97-102)
sts. When the work measures 47-47-51 [47-47-51] cm bind off the center 16-16-18 sts [24-25-
28] sts for the neck. Bind off 2 sts at each neck edge on the next row. Bind off when the work
measures 49-49-53 cm.

Sleeves: Cast on 34-34-34 [48-48-48] sts and knit 3 [2] cm in garter st. Change to stockinette
st. When the work measures 6 [5] cm, inc 1 st at each side 19-19-20 [27-27-29] times:
Sizes S+M: every 5th row [alternately every 4th and every 5th row]
Size L: alternately every 4th and 5th row [every 4th row]
= 72-72-74 [102-102-106] sts. When the work measures 47-46-46 [47.5-45.5-44.5] cm bind off
for sleeve caps each side every other row:
Size S: 4 sts 6 times [3 sts 1 time, 5 sts 6 times]
Size M: 4 sts 6 times [3 sts 1 time, 4 sts 8 times]
Size L: 4 sts 6 times [3 sts 11 times].
Bind off all remaining sts. The work measures 52-51-51 cm.

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams.


Collar: Pick up 55-65 [95-100] sts around the neck from the wrong side on circular needles, but
do not pick up over the front bands. Knit in garter st back and forth and simultaneously increase
every 6th row 1 st on either side of the stitch centered on each shoulder seam. Bind off all sts
when the collar measures 8-10 cm. Sew sleeve seams. Sew on sleeves and buttons.
