Factory Radio Removal


1. Before proceeding, eject disc(s) from factory unit
if present. FIGURE 1 Screw Cover FIGURE 4

2. Set parking brake and disconnect negative


battery cable to prevent any electrical short.

3. Pry off screw cover at bottom rear edge of gear


shift knob. Remove two (2) phillips screws. Lift
knob to remove (Figures 1, 2 & 3). Gear Shift Trim
4. Pry up rear edge of gear shift trim to release
clips. Work upward to the front edge to release
clips. Move gear shift rearward. Lift trim,
disconnect wiring harnesses and remove (Figures FIGURE 2
4 & 5). Return gear shift to park position.

Factory Radio Removal (continued)


5. 2005-'07 Models: Remove one (1) phillips
screw from bottom edge of receiver FIGURE 6 FIGURE 7
trimpanel (Figure 6).

6. 2008-'09 Models: Remove ashtray and


remove one (1) exposed phillips screw
(Figure 7).

7. Remove ten (10) phillips screws from metal


frame exposed by removal of gear shift trim
(Figure 8). Remove frame and set aside.
Receiver Trimpanel
8. Starting at the bottom, pry around the edges
of receiver trimpanel and pull out enough to
disconnect all wiring harnesses. Remove
trimpanel (Figure 9). FIGURE 10

9. Remove four (4) phillips screws securing
factory radio. Pull out radio, disconnect and
remove (Figure 10).

Receiver Installation adaptor plugs into the vehicle receiver harness.


If the Crutchfield adaptor is incorrect, please call our
Technical Support Department at 1-800-955-9094.

A Standard DIN receiver is shown. If installing a


Double-DIN receiver, follow instructions supplied
with the dash kit. FIGURE 2

1. Assemble receiver mounting bracket following
instructions supplied with the dash kit.

2. Remove DIN sleeve from new receiver (Figure 1).

3. Slide DIN sleeve into opening in receiver


mounting bracket and secure to bracket by FIGURE 1
bending the securing tabs (Figure 2).

4. Slide receiver fully into sleeve (Figure 3).

5. Make wiring connections following instructions FIGURE 3 FIGURE 4


supplied with the receiver wiring adaptor
received from Crutchfield. (2 of 4 screws
shown)
6. If factory radio is 2” tall: The factory rear
support bracket in the dash must be removed.
Remove four (4) phillips screws (two on each

side) securing support bracket. Tilt bracket and
pull from dash (Figures 4 & 5).

7. Hold receiver assembly near dash. Connect FIGURE 5


receiver wiring adaptor to factory harness. Plug
antenna lead into rear of receiver.

8. Slide assembly into dash and secure with screws


previously removed.

9. Test operation and reassemble dash by reversing
removal steps.

! IMPORTANT
No speaker wiring adaptor is available at this time from
Crutchfield for the tweeter location. It will be necessary to FIGURE 1 FIGURE 2
splice wires in order to install an aftermarket speaker.

No speaker adaptor bracket is available at this time for the


tweeter location. A mounting bracket must be fabricated in
order to install an aftermarket speaker.

It is possible that the replacement speakers do not have


screws supplied. It may be necessary to acquire mounting
hardware.

“Sail” Panel
1. Pry off “sail” panel to release clips,
disconnect tweeter harness and remove panel
(Figures 1 & 2).

2. Pry open screw cover in door release trim.


Remove one (1) exposed phillips screw.

3. Remove one (1) phillips screw from air
duct (Figure 6). FIGURE 6 FIGURE 7

4. Pry out screw cover and remove one (1)


exposed phillips screw from front edge
of door panel (Figure 7).

5. Remove one (1) phillips screw located


under door pull (Figure 8).

6. Pry out three (3) screw covers in rear
edge of door panel and remove exposed
phillips screws (Figure 9). FIGURE 9
(1 of 3 shown)
7. Pry out sides and bottom of door panel
to release clips. Lift panel, disconnect
wiring harnesses and remove
(Figure 10).

8. Tweeter Removal & Installation:


 Remove two (2) phillips screws and
lift off speaker (Figure 11). FIGURE 10
 Fabricate a speaker mounting
bracket and secure speaker to
bracket.
 Make wiring connections following
instructions on page 12. Return to FIGURE 11 FIGURE 12
this page to complete installation.
 Secure assembly to location.

9. Woofer Removal & Installation:


 Remove four (4) phillips screws
securing speaker. Pull out speaker,
disconnect and remove (Figure 12).
 Connect speaker wiring adaptor of
replacement speaker to vehicle
speaker harness.
 Secure speaker with screws
previously removed.

10. Test operation and reinstall door panel


by reversing removal steps.
! SAFETY CHECK
Check that wires do not interfere with window

Remove one (1) exposed phillips screw.

2. Pry out screw cover and remove one (1)
exposed phillips screw from front edge of Door Release Trim
door panel (Figures 3 & 4).

3. Remove one (1) phillips screw located under


door pull (Figure 5).

4. Pry out three (3) screw covers in rear

panel to release clips. Lift panel,
disconnect wiring harnesses and
remove (Figure 8).

securing factory speaker. Pull out (1 of 3 shown)
speaker, disconnect and remove
(Figure 9).

7. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of


replacement speaker to vehicle

8. Test speaker operation and reinstall


door panel by reversing disassembly
steps.

on factory wires.

1. Move passenger side front seat rearward


and remove two (2) 10mm bolts from
speaker/enclosure assembly (Figure 1).

2. Move seat forward and remove two (2) Speaker/Enclosure Assembly


10mm nuts from assembly (Figure 2).

3. Disconnect wiring harness and lift enclosure Bracket


to remove (Figure 3).

4. Remove four (4) phillips screws securing


bracket to speaker enclosure and remove
bracket (Figure 4).

5. Remove eight (8) phillips screws from


bottom panel of enclosure. Pry up panel to
remove (Figure 5).

6. Remove six (6) phillips screws securing amp
circuit board and set board aside.
Note: Subwoofer wires are soldered to
speaker and amp board (Figure 6).

7. Remove four (4) phillips screws securing


subwoofer to enclosure. Cut wires close to
speaker to remove (Figure 7).

8. Connect factory speaker wires to new


speaker using spade connectors.

9. Secure speaker to location with screws


previously removed.

10. Test speaker operation and reassemble area FIGURE 6


by reversing disassembly steps.

Wire Splicing Guide These methods can be used to make wiring connections if no receiver or speaker wiring adaptor is available.

Factory harness is removed. Save New speaker wires are spliced into
CRIMP METHOD harness if it is to be reconnected in
the future by this method.
