How to Navigate the Symphony Software

General Display
Located on the top left-hand side of the screen

Device Tree. Displays all available cameras.

Timeline. Displays all motion detected within 30-minute intervals (indicated by the blue
rectangles).
Decorations. Displays movement detectors around all moving objects.

Camera View. To view multiple cameras at once, click New Docked View. Select the number of
cameras desired. Click and drag the desired cameras to the blank screens.

*Note: Beside each camera, it’s current state will be classified as either: On, No Record, Activity, or Off.
On: Camera is currently on and recording since activity was just detected.
No Record: Camera is still functioning, but not recording since no activity is currently detected.
Activity: Activity is detected and the camera is currently recording.
Off: Camera may be disconnected. Service may be needed.

Speciality Tool Bar


Displayed on the bottom of the screen only when viewing video from the past

Play back speed: Controls how fast play back is.

Fast Forward or Rewind: Choose from 10 seconds, 1 second, or 1 frame.

Live View: To return to live video.

*Notes: Clicking on a blue rectangle from the Timeline function allows you to view video from earlier on
that day.
Hover over the bottom of the camera view to display this tool bar.

Camera Types
Icons located beside each camera under the Device Tree

Fixed Camera.
Zooms but does not move side-to-side.

To zoom in:

1. Click on the desired location


2. Using the mouse, scroll to zoom in and out

*Alternatively: Click and draw an imaginary box over the desired


location.

PTZ Camera.
Zooms and moves side-to-side.

Locations. The different locations the camera automatically rotates between.

Zooming. To zoom in and out.

Rotating. To move and rotate the camera view.

Return Home. Takes camera back to the first location.

*Notes: Hover over the right-hand side of the camera view to display tool bar.
Zooming techniques outlined in the fixed camera section are also applicable.

How to Find Footage from Days Ago
1. Select the camera you wish to find footage from.

2. Hover the mouse over the top left-hand side of the camera view. A Calendar icon will
appear within the tool bar. Click on this icon and select the desired date.

3. The dates that are bolded are days in which there are footage available for that specific
camera.

4. Once you are on the desired day, use the Timeline function to view the activity during
that 24-hour period. Each line represents a 30-minute interval from the entered date.
Each blue rectangle represents motion detected.

How to Export Video Footage
1. Select the camera you wish to export video from.

2. Hover the mouse over the top left-hand side of the camera view. A Calendar icon will
appear within the tool bar. Click on this icon and select the desired date.

3. From the Timeline, right-click on the desired starting point of the video clip.
➢ Click Mark Export Start

4. From the Timeline, right-click on the desired end point of the video clip.
➢ Click Mark Export End

5. From the Timeline, right-click and select Export.

6. This will open the Export Video dialog box. Under Format select either Symphony Video
(.aira) or AVI

➢ If you select Symphony Video (.aira)


o Check off the box Include Symphony Player. This will include Symphony
Player and the associated files in the exported folder (Desktop\Exported
Videos). This is best for legal video evidence that cannot be altered.

➢ If you select AVI


o The Export Video dialog box will expand to display more options. Select
this option for all video export needs. This option is easier to play on any
device, since it does not require a software installation.

7. By default, the video file and a log file will be saved on your Desktop (Desktop\Exported
Videos). If necessary, change the location of the saved files by altering the path in the
Destination Folder field.

8. Click Export. A message will display indicating that the file has been saved. You have the
option of opening the directory where the video file has been stored.

9. Click Close.
