Subject: Payment of Annual Hazardous Waste Generator Fees for Calendar Year 2022
Los Alamos National Laboratory, EPA ID# NM0890010515
This letter transmits to the New Mexico Environment Department – Hazardous Waste Bureau (NMED-
HWB) the annual hazardous waste generator fee for Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) provided
by Triad National Security, LLC (Triad) and Newport News Nuclear BWXT-Los Alamos, LLC (N3B), as
Co-Permittees on behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). These fees are required pursuant to the
provisions of the New Mexico Administrative Code, Title 20, Chapter 4, Part 3. Based on the NMED-
HWB fee regulations and calculations, the total fee due for LANL is $20,000. The Co-Permittees submit
separate reports and payments for the fee under one Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
identification number.
Attached to this letter are the associated hazardous waste fee reports for calendar year (CY) 2022. The
LANL annual large quantity generator (LQG) fees were calculated separately by the Co-Permittees due to
the distinct operational activities of each Co-Permittee. The total payment of the LQG fee for LANL is
calculated according to the report instructions and then apportioned as a percentage of the total amount of
waste generated during the CY for each Co-Permittee; each Co-Permittee pays its percentage of the fee
based on the amount of hazardous waste generated for CY 2022.
• Enclosure 1 - Calendar Year 2022 Annual Hazardous Waste Fee Report for Triad.
• Enclosure 2 - Check #461299 for payment of Triad’s portion of the LQG fee.
• Enclosure 3 - Calendar Year 2022 Annual Hazardous Waste Fee Report for N3B.
• Enclosure 4 - Check #4401 for payment of N3B’s portion of the LQG fees.
The Laboratory’s Fenton Hill Facility did not generate hazardous waste during this CY and therefore is
not required to pay a fee for CY 2022. The enclosed fee payments represent the amount owed for a single
facility owned by the DOE and coဨoperated by Triad and N3B.

Determine generator status using the largest amount of total hazardous waste generated during any one calendar
month. DO NOT AVERAGE.
GENERATOR STATUS:
Very Small Quantity Generator means a generator who generates less than 100 kilograms (or less than 220
* pounds) in any month in the calendar year and never accumulates more than 1,000 kilograms (or more than
2,204 pounds) of hazardous waste on site in any month in the calendar year.
Small Quantity Generator (SQG) means a generator who generates more than 100 kilograms (or more than 220
* pounds) but less than 1,000 kilograms (or less than 2,204 pounds) of hazardous waste during any month in the
calendar year; or a generator that accumulates more than 1,000 kilograms (or more than 2,205 pounds) of
hazardous waste on site in any month in the calendar year.
* Large Quantity Generator (LQG) means a generator who generates more than 1,000 kilograms (or more than
2,204 pounds) of hazardous waste during any month in the calendar year; or a generator who generates more
than 1 kilogram (or more than 2.2 pounds) of acutely toxic or "p-listed" hazardous waste in any month in the
calendar year; or a generator that accumulates more than 6,000 kilograms (or more than 13,228 pounds) of
hazardous waste on site in any month in the calendar year.
Note: Complete and return this page of report with payment for past due fees only
Fees owed for previous years are calculated the same as above and are then multiplied by 1%. The sum of the annual the
generation fee is multiplied by the number of months that the fee is past due:
This late fee is added the generation fee, and the administration charge of $100 to determine the total past due fee owed
If you are paying past due fees for multiple years, you pay the administration charge one time only. The fees for each
year are due on August 1st ofthe following year.
Example: Fees for 2017 were due on August 1, 2018. Please calculate past due fees and enter them below:
2019 Fees $ NA
2020 Fees $ NA
2021 Fees $ NA
Administrative Fee **ONLY FOR PAST DUE FEES** $ 100.00
