Answer all the questions (10x2=20)

1. A 100W amplifier has 64 dB gain. What should be the input signal power to drive the amplifier in
full power?

2. An earth quake wave was traveling through the earth and the intensity detected 100 Km from
source was 5.0x 106 W/m2. What is the intensity of the earth quake wave at a distance 400 km
from the source?

3. An earth quake wave passes across a boundary in rock where its velocity increases from 6km/s
to 8km/s if it strikes this boundary at 300 calculate the angle of refraction

4. If a loudspeaker mounted in the following manner. Find out the Directivity factor (Q) for each

a) Mounted at centre of ceiling or wall surface
b) Mounted at intersection of any two wall

5. Prove that the velocity of sound does not depend on change of altitude if the temperature and
type of air is same.

6. If the ambient noise level in outdoor acoustic filled is 70dB and a sound source generate 110dB

7. If an acoustic room has the dimension 12 m x 14 m x 6 m find out lowest 2 standing wave
frequencies?

8. If the intensity of a sound in air at 1 kHz is 12W/m2. Find out the value of root mean square
pressure? Where density of air is ρ0 =1.21 kg/m3 and sound velocity is c=350 m/s

9. During the testing, a microphone produced an open circuit voltage E0=0.008 V, at 100 dB sound
pressure level (SPL) find out the sensitivity (Sv) of the microphone.

10. A room has dimensions 12 m x 14 m x 6 m and average absorptivity of the surfaces is a = 0.2 If a
