Ques 1 Plot the point P(−3,4). Draw PM and PN perpendiculars to x−axis and y−axis respectively.
State the co-ordinates of the points M and N.

Ques 2 A point lies on the x-axis at a distance of 7 units from the y-axis. What are its
coordinates? What will be the coordinates if it lies on y-axis at a distance of -7 units from x-axis?
Ques 3 Find the coordinates of a point

a) Whose ordinate is 6 and lies on y axis

b) Whose abscissa is -3 and lies on x axis

Ques 4 (a) Find image of point (-3,-3) under x axis. (take x as plane mirror)
(b) If a point is on negative side of y-axis at a distance of 3 units from origin, then find
co-ordinates of the point

Ques 5 Three vertices of a rectangle are 𝐴(1,3), 𝐵(1, −1),𝐶(7, −1). Plot these points on the
graph paper and hence, use it to find the coordinates of fourth vertex. Also find the area of the
rectangle

a) Which lies on x and y axis both

Ques 7 Write the coordinates of the vertices of a rectangle whose length and breadth are 5 and
3 units respectively, one vertex at the origin, the longer side lies on the x-axis and one of the
vertices lies in the third quadrant.

Ques 8 If the coordinates of a point M are (-2,9) which can also be expressed as (1 + x, y2) and
y is greater than 0. Find the value of x and y. Then find in which quadrant do the following

Ques 10 There is an equilateral triangle ABC with sides 8 units and lies on xaxis. If the base BC is
bisected by origin (O). Find the height of the triangle.

Ques 11 From the Fig, answer the following : (4)

(i) Write the points whose abscissa is 0.

(ii) Write the points whose ordinate is 0.
(iii) Write the points whose abscissa is – 5.
(iv) Write the points in which abscissa – ordinate = 0

Ques 13 Kumar has a rectangle sketch, which he needs to draw on a coloured paper of length
and breadth 32 units and 16 units respectively, using a plotter. Plotter is a device which is
attached to a computer like a printer. It is used for drawing complicated sketches. Plotter
accepts only positive coordinates where the point (0,0) is the left-bottom corner of the paper.
The sketch ABCD needs to be centrally aligned on the paper (5)
