Annual Report for the year 2023-2024

The events of the Centre for the Academic Year 2023-2024 commenced with the Advisory
Council Meeting of the Centre for Business Ethics and Corporate Governance for the
academic year 2023-24 was held on 28th June 2023. A Special Sale by Institute of Mental
Health, Kilpauk and the Wall of Kindness Inauguration was held on 26th July 2023. All
products sold were handmade by the in-house patients. A visit to the ‘Little Sisters of the
Poor, Chetpet’ was organized on 5th August 2023.The Centre organized an Intra-collegiate
cover story contest on October 4, 2023. Thirteen teams participated.
The Centre for Business Ethics and Corporate Governance of Loyola Institute of Business
Administration (LIBA) organized the Student Ethics Conference on 12th October 2023,
focusing on Digital Governance – A Key to Ethical and Sustainable Business. Mr. CA. T.N.
Manoharan, Padma Shri Awardee, Chairman IDBI Bank delivered the keynote address.
The objective of the Honesty Shop initiative is to demonstrate and nurture ethics, aligning
with LIBA's vision of “Excellence with Ethics”, and developing ethical leaders. The
“Honesty Shop” 2nd Anniversary was held on 1st November 2023. Rev. Fr. C. Joe Arun, SJ,
LIBA Director, distributed gifts. On 25th November 2023, a visit to ‘Sevalaya’ was
organized with contributions made.
The Centre has organized two flagship events, the Mother Teresa Award for Corporate
Citizenship 2023-24, held on January 18th, 2024 and Beacon 2024, the Annual Ethics
Conference of LIBA, which was held on February 29th, 2024. The theme for Beacon 2024
was Sport Ethics: Not Only Sportive but Also Ethical. Padma Shri. Vasudevan Baskaran,
Arjuna Awardee & Former Indian Hockey Team Captain, Padma Shri. Shiny Wilson, Arjuna
Awardee & Zonal Sports Secretary, and Mr. Prajnesh Gunneswaran shared their valuable
experiences and insights on sports ethics.
