1. What are the three domains of educational technology according to Stoic?

The three domains of educational technology according to Stoic are technology as a tutor in which
technology can be a support system for a teacher in teaching. Also it can technology can be a tutor itself when
it is programmed. Other one is technology as a teaching tool, technology can be a tool or a helping hand to a
teacher in teaching but cannot replace the teacher’s place in education. It is like a device or a system that can be
use to ease teacher’s work load. Lastly is technology as a learning tool, technology can also ease the learning
process. As stated above that technology can be a teaching tool and at the same time can be a learning tool that
provide efficiency in learning and can be an effective tool.

2. How did technology helped teachers in teaching?

Technology helped teachers in teaching in so many ways. For instance, it enhances teachers method in
teaching and enhances students engagement during discussion. It also provides easy access to online resources
needed in teaching and learning process. It also ensures that learning is not limited to the physical classroom

and learning that will facilitate collaboration and student engagement.

3. Differentiate the three categories of knowledge according to Egbert.

Declarative knowledge involves discrete pieces of information which often learned through
memorization of facts, drills and practices. It is a fundamental knowledge necessary for a students to achieve
more complex higher order thinking skills. However, structural knowledge consist of facts or pieces of
declarative knowledge put together to attain some form of meaning. For example, the declarative knowledge is
“eraser”. the idea that evolved around the eraser is that it is used to erase something. On the other hand,
procedural knowledge is knowledge in action or the knowledge how to do something.it is based on the facts but
learned thorough the process. For example, how to drive a car, how to use a cellphone involves procedural
knowledge to learn how to operate and use these things. This knowledge is indicated through performance tasks
or a graphical representation of concepts.
MODULE 3&4
Safety Issues on the use of ICT including E-Safety Rules
Select and Use ICT Tools for Teaching and Learning

TEST YOUR UNDERSTANDING:

1. Explain the risks associated in numbers 5, 7, and 10. Cite an example.

The risks associated with health and well-being in using technology is a serious concern.overuse or
misuse of technology can lead into various psychological issues, including distraction, narcissism, or even
depression. It can also cause physical problems like vision problems, hearing loss, and indifferent behavior.
Overusing and misusing technology can cause mental health issues most specially to this generation whom are
prone to technology and can no longer suppressed the urge to addiction.
There are several risks associated in addiction to gaming and gambling such as fraud and laundering
money due to the absence of face to face interaction which intensify the risks of proxy and messenger betting
and potential money laundering activity as mentioned.
Numerous risks are associated with social pressure to maintain social networking sites. It can have
critical impact on individuals, particularly young people. Among these risks are Cyberbullying which can have
serious consequences for mental and well-being and fear of missing out (FOMO) or having the pressure to stay

2. Select an issue in the misuse of the technology in school and point out how a teacher can resolve it.

Leaving a mobile phone turned on and using it during class period is the most common misuse of
technology inside the classroom. In this matter, teacher may create classroom rules that prohibit the use of any
device especially cellphones during class period without permission. If the teacher caught students ignoring
the rules, students will be given a chance to explain his/her side and if the reason is not valid then confiscate the
device and give them an appropriate warning. Return it when class is over. This will serve as their punishment
for not abiding the class rules. If the incidents continue even if the teacher did those mentioned above then
maybe its time to use another level of punishment but not to the extent of physical harm.
