Hay Share Calculator version 1.3 - Overview
The Hay Share Calculator is designed to calculate the cost per ton (2,000 lbs) of
baled hay produced. It also calculates the value of standing hay (as fed moisture content).
It then establishes a fair hay share between the landlord and tenant for the hay
(baled and sitting in the field).
Enter values in the "Blue Colored" cells. All other cells are calculated. Position the
cursor over the Red Triangles for additional information.
Total Costs per Ton of Baled Hay Produced $ 64.06 per ton (as fed moisture content)
Total Costs per Bale $ 44.84 1,400 lb bale
Note: Custom rates include labour, depreciation, fuel, repairs and maintenance,
and interest on investment.
The Farm Machinery Custom Rate and Rental Guide is available on the Saskatchewan Ministry
