UCE GRADING BASED ON EIGHT (8) SUBJECTS

DIVISION I: Aggregate: 8 – 32

Conditions:

a) Pass in at least eight subjects which must include one subject

from each of the subject groups below:
i) Group I (English Language)
ii) Group II (Lit. in English, C.R.E, History, Geography)
iii) Group IV (Mathematics)
iv) Group V (Agriculture, Physics, Chemistry, Biology)

b) Seven credits one of which must be in English Language i.e.

7 credits (one of them in English Language) and 1 pass

DIVISION II: Aggregate: 33 – 45

Conditions:
a) Pass in at least eight subjects including English Language.

b) Pass with credit in a least six subjects i.e

6 credits, 2 passes

DIVISION III: Aggregate: 46 – 58

Conditions:

Either a) Pass in at least eight subjects with credits in at least three of them i.e.
3 credits and 5 passes

Or b) Pass in at least seven subjects with credits in at least four of them i.e.
i) 4 credits and 4 passes or
ii) 4 credits, 3 passes, 1 fail

Or c) pass five subjects with credits in all of them i.e.

i) 5 credits, 3 passes or
ii) 5 credits, 2 passes, 1 fail or
iii) 5 credits, 1 pass, 2 fail or
iv) 5 credits, 3 fail

DIVISION IV: Aggregate: 59 – 69

Conditions:

Either a) Pass one subject with credit (grade 6 or higher) i.e.

i) 1 credit and 7 passes or
ii) 1 credit and 7 fail

Or b) Pass two subjects at grade 7 i.e.

i) 2 passes of grade 7 and 6 other passes or
ii) 2 passes of grade 7 and 6 fail

Or c) Pass three subjects at grade 8 i.e.

i) 3 passes of grade 8 and 5 other passes or
ii) 3 passes of grade 8 and 5 fail.

DIVISION 7: ( Ungraded )

Either a) Missing a core subject, that is failure to sit:

(i) English Language
(ii) Mathematics
(iii) Any of the science subjects
(iv) At least one of the humanities (Lit. in English, C.R.E, History, Geography )

Or b) failure to sit at least eight (8) subjects

DIVISION 9 (Fail) : Aggregate: 70-72

Note:

 A pass in English Language (7, 8), candidate moves from DIV 1 to DIV 2
 F9 in English Language, candidate moves from DIV 1 to DIV 3
 F9 in English Language, candidate moves from DIV 2 to DIV 3
 F9 in Mathematics, candidate moves from DIV 1 to DIV 2
 F9 in all Humanities i.e. Lit. in English, C.R.E, History and Geography, candidates moves
from DIV 1 to DIV 2
 F9 in all science subjects done, candidate moves from DIV 1 to Div 2
 Missing a paper in a given subject, candidate is awarded X ( absent )
 Only candidates who obtain Div 1 to Div 4 qualify for the award of
