CONCRETE TECHNOLOGY SERIES

1. ABSTRACT
One of the most used building materials in structural construc on
projects is reinforced bre foncrete. . As it is widely known, unfortunately,
low tensile strength is a characteris c of concrete. For this reason, one
must reinforce concrete using a form of technology that has always been
resorted to in cas ng all concentrate slabs i.e. Fibre Concrete (C30 S Z3 –
C30 Standard Z3 + Fibre 30MPa + Fibre. Reinforced concrete has
signi cantly be er tensile strength due to the use of steel, bre and/or
other materials
According to the suppliers where concrete is procured, the current design
codes and recommenda ons of this concrete focus mainly on its basic
mechanical proper es. These include good compressive strength,
modulus of elas city and to a limited extent, tensile strength. However,
more detailed analysis requires a comprehensive descrip on based, for
example, on the use of fracture mechanics.
With experience, it has become obvious that the major disadvantage of
reinforced concrete structures is the hard work required to cast them,
as it is necessary to ensure the correct posi on of the concrete
reinforcement, su cient coverage of the concrete reinforcement, the
interac on of the concrete reinforcement and the concrete, and the
requirements that arise for the reinforcement bond.
A variant of concrete where these disadvantages disappear is with bre-
reinforced concrete by inser ng dispersed reinforcement into the
concrete, the tensile strength is increased. It is possible to choose both
the size of the bre dosing and the type/shape of the bres themselves,
which is important to ensure cohesion between concrete and dispersed
reinforcement, where the shape of the bre itself also has a signi cant
e ect on the residual tensile strength of concrete and a shape load–
displacement. According to suppliers, 1pkt of 600g micro Fibre would be
included per cube as per mix design.
In conclusion, it has been evident that the use of bre-reinforced
concrete as a construc on material for load-bearing structures such as
concentrate slabs is highly recommended
