Article: Unplastifying

Have you ever wondered how to do your bit for the welfare of the environment?
Or how to make aware the people in your community about this problem? In this
article you’ll read about how my class discovered an effective way to catch the
attention of every student in my school.

Recently I made a project at school in my Biology Classes. It was about reducing

and hopefully eliminating plastic cutlery and replacing it for cornstarch cutlery! It
was very unlikely to have this getting implemented, but we soon realized that our
proposal was totally realistic and creative! The students seemed interested in
changing this modality to an biodegradable and ecologic alternative. We use
plastic massively and daily, so we noticed the importance of talking about this
issue.

Firstly, we informed ourselves more about this topic with an App called
“Unplastify”, which would give us an assignment to do weekly, and then to upload
our progress. Many American countries were engaged! We participated every
Wednesday in a virtual meeting with the creators to talk about the development
of our projects. It really caught the attention of all the students that took part in
the activity. Everyone was committed in making a successful project!

In conclusion, talking about the use of plastic especially in new generations, is a

really important matter, but not every time easy. So finding an innovative and
interactive way to do it, such as doing an App, it's an amazing idea!
