Lesson 4 - Investigating Electromagnetism
Lesson 4 - Investigating Electromagnetism
Topic: Magnetism
Lesson Objective:
1. Investigate factors that change the strength of an electromagnet.
Prior Knowledge / Previous Objectives:
Students should be able to:
1. Describe a magnetic field and understand that it surrounds a magnet and exerts a force on other
magnetic fields.
2. Describe how to make an electromagnet and know that electromagnets have many applications.
Instructions:
Activity 1: Investigating Electromagnet
1. Students will work in pair for the assignment.
2. Create a google doc to compile your answer. Name the doc as “Electromagnet (Group Member’s
Name)”.
3. Answer all the questions provided. The questions can be answered by numbering system or
paragraphs form (essay).
4. Students are encouraged to insert appropriate diagrams or images.
5. Below are the questions that need to be answered:
Questions
1. Introduction
Describe the materials needed to build a simple electromagnet (e.g., battery, insulated wire,
iron nail).
Provide a step-by-step guide on how to construct an electromagnet.
Include diagrams or illustrations to support your explanation.
3. How Electromagnets Work
