intent of the International Regulations for preventing of Collisions at Sea,1972, as

 The candidate must be able to navigate the vessel in accordance with Rule 10:
Traffic Separation Schemes of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions
at Sea, 1972, as amended.
From the initial position at Lat. 36* 03.3804’N Long. Long.005* 17.5218’W, the ship is
navigating safety at full sea speed, heading 220°T to a pre-defined route in a restricted
Scenario Description waters setting with multiple targets in specified waters. The candidate’s monitors the ship’s
track during the Traffic Separation Scheme passage by obtaining radar range and bearing to
an object and plot vessels fix position on the nautical chart.

1. Inform the candidates regarding House Rules
2. The assessor must ensure that:Observe the execution of the trainee/s of the
expected performance taking into account the corresponding performance
criteria.
3. Indicate in the appropriate column whether the task was "done" or "not done".
4. Showing the drawing of a curve of the ship’s stability using the given conditions’
data.
During: Instruct candidates to log in their names (Station No./Surname/Name/MI)
1. Verify if the candidates are in their respective assigned stations.
2. Check the Initial Conditions as per Assessors copy.
3. Remind candidates the duration of the Assessment scenario.
4. Start Assessment scenario (Log at “remarks” START TIME)
5. Inform the candidates when the scenario ends.

6. Pause Assessment scenario (Log “remarks” STOP TIME)
7. Instruct candidates to proceed to debriefing room.
8. Save candidates, Assessment results.
9. Save candidates’ Assessment recording.
10. Print candidates’ Assessment results.

After:
1. Debrief the candidates (refer to debriefing notes)
The Assessor must:
1. state the purpose of briefing;
2. distribute copies of the scenario and scoring instruments to the candidates; and
3. explain the performance criteria, performance standards and the grading system.

Assessment Briefing FAILURE STATE:


The candidate fails if:
1. the grade is below 60%;
2. there is unsafe action/behavior of the candidate during the Assessment;
3. he/she is unable to complete the Assessment within specified time
4. he/she does not comply with the Performance Standard.

2. attend familiarization and completely filled up and sign the familiarization checklist

Grades C – Competent, when the candidate passed above the required passing percentage (60%)
NYC – Not Yet Competent, when the score is below 60%
Re-sit NYC – the candidate can retake up to the maximum of three times
A Candidate, who fails in the same competence for three times, will undergo training/tutoring in the
area where he/she got failed.
