Air pollution is the entry or mixing of hazardous elements into the

atmosphere which can cause damage to the environment thereby reducing the
quality of the environment which directly causes disturbance to human health. One
form of corona prevention is to increase our body's immunity, one way to increase
body immunity is to attract aromas from aromatherapy. Our research aims to
provide a device that is concise and environmentally friendly to sterilize the air
around us and maintain air quality to keep it clean and fresh while at the same time
calming the mind, boosting the body's immune system with the help of avocado
seed extract. The type of research used is a quantitative method with a trial and error
design which is used in 5 different rooms. The largest room measures 7.6 x 11.8
meters and the smallest room measures 2.8 x 7.8 meters. The treatment was
presented with the help of the IoT mechanism which was left for 10 minutes. The
results obtained from our experiments are that AVSEEL X+ can act as a device to
help freshen the air and boost the body's immune system with the help of avocado
seed extract aromatherapy.

I. Introduction
Air pollution is the entry or
mixing of harmful elements into the
atmosphere which can cause
environmental damage, thereby
reducing the quality of the environment
which will directly affect human health.
Pollution can be divided into
two, indoor pollution and outdoor
pollution.
Air pollution causes 4.5 million
annual deaths globally.
As of 5 July 2023, there were
767,726,861 confirmed cases of
COVID-19 in WHO reports, including
6,948,764 deaths.
In addition, after conducting
research on the content of several
tropical fruit seeds in Indonesia, the
following graph was obtained.
The graph below shows the
high levels of flavonoids in avocado
seed extract as much as 0.945% w/w.
In addition, 0.2044% tannin content
was also found in avocado seed
extract with ethanol solvent (Harrizul,
et al., 2019).
Flavonoids are secondary
metabolites with the basic chemical
formula C6 -C3 -C6. There are 281
classifications of flavonoids that play
an active role as boosting up immune
system, such as quercetin (C15H10O7).

 Due to the common cases of
air pollution also viral and bacterial
infections, a solution is needed. The
combination of air filter and avocado
seeds (Persea americana) can have
various benefits, one of which is as
an air filter with the aim of protecting
oneself from various diseases that are
transmitted through the air medium.
Thus, the formulation of the problem
regarding the function of AVSEEL
X+ as a device to help filter air and
improve the body's immune system is
obtained with the help of avocado
seed extract aromatherapy.
II. Method and Experimental
Details
A. Refill Production
1. Experiment Methods and
Details
The type of research used is a
quantitative method with a trial and
error design, where we conducted trials
that are divided into two types of
variables. Control variables were
treated with 0% avocado seed extract
and 100% essential oil & Virgin
Coconut Oil (VCO) as an emulgator, as
well as experimental variables with
different concentrations. The
concentrations we used are 70%, 80%
and 90% because based on our previous
research, we have conducted trials with
concentration levels ranging from 5%
to 60%. However, when compared to
our current research with
concentrations of 70%, 80%, and 90%,
the latest research produces products
that are superior in having an impact on
mosquito mortality. The difference in
percentage concentration means a%
avocado seed extract and (100-a)%
essential oil & Virgin Coconut Oil.
The type of extraction process we
used are maceration and rotary
evaporation. The tools and materials
we used in this research process were
analytical balances, mincer (mitochiba),
beakers, measuring cups, and rotary
evaporator for the evaporation process.
Avocado seeds (Persea americana)
were obtained from fruit seed sellers in
Surabaya City (the criteria for avocado
seeds we chose were fresh seeds and
hard-shelled), then the chemical used in
this study was 96% ethanol as a solvent.
The sample in this study was Culex sp.
which were still larvaes and would be
bred in an experimental laboratory until
they reached the adult mosquito stage.
2. Research Procedure
a. Avocado Seed Kernel
Extraction
The type of extraction process that
we use in this study is maceration.
Maceration is a simple extraction
which principally involves soaking
avocado seed powder in ethanol. This
causes damage to the cell wall and
membrane due to the pressure
difference between inside and outside
the cell.
The first step of extraction is
grinding the avocado seed into powder.
The powder form will make the surface
area wider and will allow the ethanol to
react more with the avocado seed. We
used a 1 to 5 ratio where we dissolved
400 grams of avocado seed powder in
2000 milliliters of ethanol. Then, the
desired substance will dissolve in the
solvent. This process is repeated until
the solvent is saturated and next the
solvent is filtered.
 The last step is the rotary
evaporation where the filtration results
will be evaporated which will produce
a more concentrated extract. The
results obtained were 50 milligrams of
avocado seed extract.
b. Fitochemicals Screening
The next step is to test the content
of Flavonoids, Saponins and Tannins in
avocado seed extract which was carried
out at the Chemical Laboratory of
Universitas Negeri Surabaya.
c. Refill Concentrations
The next step is to mix 70%,
80%, and 90% avocado seed extract
with distilled water & essential oil as
experimental variables.

Mosquitoes
Experimental variable testing
was carried out on experimental media
which were divided into 3 treatment
groups based on the concentration of
the ingredients to determine their
effectiveness. We use a total of 100
mosquitoes for each treatment because
this number is a normal number based
on several related studies. A total of
100 adult mosquitoes were put into the
experimental medium and allowed to
be affected by the steam for 10 minutes.
Observation of objects was carried out
based on the number of knockdown
mosquitoes. The number of knocked
down mosquitoes will be compared
with different concentrations for
aromatherapy to determine which
extract concentration is the most
effective as a mosquito repellent in this
study.
 B. AVSEEL X+ Production
1. Experiment Methods and
Details
The research design used is a
quantitative research method according
to the data.
2. Experiment Design
Researchers use block diagrams so
that the relationships between systems
can be mapped properly. Then it is
implemented in direct assembly.
This remote control system uses a
5v 1 channel relay module as an
automatic switch to turn on or turn off
heaters, UV rays, and fans which is
integrated with ESP 32 as a
microcontroller and power supply as a
power source. The microcontroller
here is likened to the brain of the
entire system because the
microcontroller is in charge of
receiving the input signal, processing
it and providing the output signal
according to the program loaded in it.

In the work process, researchers use Next, ESP 32 sends a command

an automation system where this to close the relay channel, so that
system automates the connection electricity is channeled to heaters, UV
between the device and the lamps and fans as mosquito repellent

WiFi as a communication or
connection to the microcontroller, and
the commands sent will be stored in the
BLYNK Cloud in the form of serial
data sent from an Android smartphone.
Through the BLYNK server, data is
received by ESP 32 which is connected
to the internet network. Then the
microcontroller translates the data into
parallel data so that it can input
commands via Android.

 Based on the flowchart above, the
working principle of AVSEEL X+
adapts the workings of pitcher bags,
where mosquitoes will approach the
trap with the help of UV light, steam
emission, and heating temperature as a
lure.
We use UV light to trap mosquitoes
because it is thought to have several
benefits. Insect eyes consist of
hundreds of tiny hexagonal lenses that
form a curved lattice in the eye and are
attracted to light and UV. This is what

variable group exposed to

extract with concentrations of 70%,
80%, and 90%, the highest average
mosquito mortality was obtained in the
treatment with a concentration of 90%
avocado seed extract by 94% and the
lowest mortality was in the treatment
with concentration of 70% by 84%.
This can be seen from the percentage of
Culex sp. in each test group is presented
in the figure below.

Graphical figure III.2. shows an
increase in mosquito mortality in the
group that was only exposed to
aquadest and the group that was
exposed to avocado seed extract.
Meanwhile, in the treatment group
exposed to avocado seed extract, it can
be concluded that the mortality of
Culex sp. directly proportional to the
concentration of avocado seed extract.
Where the increasing concentration of
avocado seed extract, the percentage of
death of Culex sp. also increased.
Based on the table of aroma
distribution trials conducted at 5
different locations, it was found that
AVSEEL X+ can spread the aroma
strongly with an average distance of
1,875 meters from the device and the
aroma can spread evenly over an
average radius of 4.8 meters from the
device.
IV. Conclusion
AVSEEL X+ can act as a device
to help freshen the air and boost the
body's immune system with the help of
avocado seed extract aromatherapy.
