Cyber Laws
Cyber Laws
Cyber Law is the area that deals with the internet and
technological and electronic elements, such as computers,
software, hardware & information systems. It is also
called internet law.
Cyber law refers to the relationship between the Internet
and technical and electronic elements such as computers,
software, hardware, and information systems.
Simply stated, cyber law is the legal framework for
combating computer crime and harassment.
It has strong provisions for punishing cybercrime.
It gives digital signatures and electronic documents legal
rights, which are then used in electronic banking,
shopping, and commerce.
It creates rules for the creation of a justice system devoted
solely to computer crimes.
Sometime the Cyber Law is said similar to The Electronic
Transactions Act, 2063 (2008).
The first cyber law was the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act
(CFAA), which was enacted in 1986.
On the 30th Bhadra, 2061 B.S., a cyber law was developed
to tackle computer crime and violence.

End notes
All the above laws that Nepal has promulgated for cyber crimes
are yet not enough. The country needs to address loopholes in
these laws and encourage its citizens to report cyber crime
incidents. There is also a need for comprehensive laws on e-
commerce, social media, and cyber terrorism, among other
spheres of cyber space. Another requirement is that of a clear
definition of child pornography. A dedicated cyber crime cell is
also a need of the hour. Nepal needs to work further on its
cyber laws to survive in this technologically advanced world.
