BRIEF PROFILE

I am an Indian lawyer with 23 years of experience in legal writing, analysis, training, litigation, teaching, consulting, and
project management combined with a research degree in law. I am making contributions to thought and practice in
legal aspects of gender Justice, women empowerment, Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace (POSH),
disaster, and climate change. I am the only Indian in the Expert Register of Women's Resilience to Disasters (WRD)
Knowledge Hub, created by UN Women. (https://wrd.unwomen.org/engage/experts/lipika-sharma).

I have Consolidated my knowledge of gender justice and still building on it. I am a corporate trainer and conduct
workshops to train public, and private enterprises, corporates, PSUs, people/ university staff/students about gender
sensitisation, gender equality and gender justice. I have trained over 20,000 employees including IC members with a
specific focus on Indian Law regarding the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace (POSH) and conducted
200 plus workshops to date. I excel at designing and delivering highly impactful capacity-strengthening sessions, and
training programs. With a track record of over 55 successful consultancies under my belt.

As a POSH trainer for the BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and recently come on Penal of VGurad largest Electrical
appliance manufacturer in India. I am an external member of their IC for North India and also an IC member for various
corporates and MNCs. I train National Law universities students and staff as well.

I have extensive experience in conducting workshops and training sessions for corporates, PSUs, Universities etc. on
POSH. I was a member of the University level Internal Complaint Committees with Amity, Galgotias and Sharda
University to deal with any kind of harassment against women staff and students by the provisions of the Law. I
introduced the 2 credit course in POSH at Sharda University. During the Pandemic, I worked on a Community Connect
Project focused on preventing sexual harassment at the workplace with a group of Young Adults to bolster gender
justice and make people aware of the existing law in this domain and know about the rights, obligations and impact of
non-compliance.

In July 2021 finished an online certificate course on “Understanding Gender, Inequality, intersectionality and Social
Action: Feminist Perspective”. To take a stride forward in the domain of gender justice I have authored a chapter in a
book on “Women Empowerment and gender equality: Indian Perspective”, which is published by German Publisher
Waser publication and forwarded by the former Chief Justice of India.

I have registered a Not-for-Profit Company in India: VidAikyam Foundation, registered under the Companies Act, that
is dedicated to the pursuit of gender justice, women's empowerment, disaster relief, and climate change. I have advised
UN bodies and IFRC. Recently I provided consultancy services to the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction
(UNDRR) on " Scoping Study on the Use of CEDAW General Recommendation No. 37 on Gender-Related Dimensions of
Disaster Risk Reduction in a Changing Climate.” The report was published on October 19, 2023, on the official websites
of UNDRR and Prevention Web.

I provided legal consultation to support an IFRC project that aimed to map the disaster laws and public health
emergency regulations in the ASEAN region. (under Publication) I undertook case study research for a UN Women
CSW66 Background Paper “Empowering Women in Climate, Environment, and Disaster Risk Governance: from National
Policy to Local Action” The focus of my research was a case study on gender in eco-system-based adaptation and Local
Governance.

I have provided pro bono advice to the UNDP and IFRC for their global synthesis report on effective laws and regulations
for disaster risk reduction.

I have worked closely with the government while working for a statutory body under the Ministry of AYUSH,
Government of India as a Legal Consultant. I headed the team of lawyers from all over India representing the body in
various High courts and the Supreme Court of India. The job profile included conducting POSH Training and giving legal
opinions, vetting legal drafts and liaison with lawyers all over India. I lead teams and accomplish tasks within the given
time frame.

Working as the Managing Editor (Legal Content) for Wolters Kluwer, Australia for the Asia Pacific Region I accomplished
the skills of legal writing from a publication point of view. My competency to complete the task in the given time frame
was highly appreciated by the company as I expedited the process of knowledge transfer from Australia and completed
the task in a record 9 months. I worked for an Asia Pacific region and headed a team of 100 lawyers from all over India
and employees from the Asia Pacific region who were training my team to create content as per the requirement of
that particular jurisdiction. Interaction with the Professors and lawyers from Australia, France, Singapore, and Malaysia
was quintessential to my job profile. This bolstered my professional credentials to work in a truly international and
multicultural environment and helped build on working collectively towards a common goal and respect for diversity.
I have published widely, including 4 books, 5 chapters and 65 plus academic research papers on climate change, human
rights, and gender justice and more than 45 research articles in International and National journals.

These professional endeavours and academic achievements have equipped me with a high level of drafting, speaking,
training research, and analysis skills. I have grown as an accomplished legal professional with editorial, practising and
adult teaching experience in the area of gender justice, climate change, and championing the rights of the
underprivileged. Exposure to different legal profiles empowered me as a gender advocate who believes in the
participation of women in all jurisdictions related to policy framing, capacity building and drafting legislation in the
area of women empowerment, climate change and a sustainable future.
