SORT

Standardized On-Road
Test Cy cles
Purpose and Scope
 The purpose of SORT tests is to determine fuel or energy consumption.
 SORT testing scope is M3 Category Class 1 buses.
 It consists of 3 separate test runs.

SORT 1  Urban
SORT 2  Mixed
SORT 3 Sub-urban

 For vehicle SORT testing; vehicle in tests must be loaded to a calculated specific weight.
Purpose and Scope
• Each SORT run consists of 3 separate trapezes;
including waiting times; and door open – close steps.
• Each trapeze made up of parts as follows:
Acceleration – Constant Speed – Deceleration.
• There is a waiting time after every 3 trapezes.
• After 3 trapezes are completed, a waiting period and
any door with 2 wings must be opened and closed.
• The most important thing to consider is vehicle
speed. It is defined as commercial speed in the
regulation.
Purpose and Scope
SORT 1 – Heavy Urban 520 m + 520 m = 1040 m
SORT 2 – Easy Urban 920 m
SORT 3 – Easy Sub - Urban 1450 m

SIF data should be checked in OTOKAR's data.
Each data needs to be checked. Data must be opened by multi-plot command.

Fuel consumption and average temperature data are obtained from the
graphs. In this example, the consumption when SORT 1 is started is 2985 ml.
The consumption at the end of SORT 1 is 3310.7 ml. The difference is

3310.7 – 2985 = 325.7 ml (0.3257 liters).

It is exactly the same as the value shared by OTOKAR. We can use our own excel
file for the value to be corrected by 20 degrees Celsius.
First, we need to obtain the temperature data from the SIF data graph.

Temperature data is obtained with the help of statistics table. Temperature data
averages 27.5 degrees Celsius.

Emissions acc to 2009/33/EC
Emission calculation for buses with diesel and CNG fueled engines
is being done.
For the emission calculation, the approval of the engine installed in the vehicle is required.
WHTC of polluting gases; WHSC; CO2 values w ill be taken from engine approval.
Consumption values are the liter/100 km value obtained from the SORT test.
- The following formulas are used in the calculation.
- 0,1047 x RPM = ω (angular velocity) = 2ᴨ. n / 60
- 0,1047 = 2ᴨ / 60
- Torque x ω = Watt = P
P / 1000 = kW = P’
P’ / 3600 = kWh = Work
The work obtained at a unit distance is transferred to the work obtained at 100 km; and kWh/100 km
Energitic Consumption – Energy Consumption value is reached.
Max. torque value of engine is taken from the approval.

EgSp = ENGINE SPEED
WhBsVehSp = WHEEL BASED VEHICLE SPEED

These 3 channels are used in Emission calculations.

It is appropriate to obtain the data closest to the average consumption for

which test run will be selected.
