2024 JULY CAMP CRAFT INSTRUCTIONS

DIY Heart Gift Box-

 Supplies Needed:
 Corrugated paper (pink, purple, blue)
 Craft Sheet
 Glue Gun
 Cardboard
 Ruler
 Marker
 Scissors
 Lace & Ribbon
 Artificial Tiny Flowers
Flamingo Sanctuary Tote Bag-
 Kunin Felt in pink, black, and any other pinks you can find.
 Scissors
 Hot Glue Gun
 Pom Poms
 Ribbon
 Plastic Gemstones
 Black Sharpie or fabric chalk
1. Trace the outline of the flamingo on the felt. I traced it facing one way, but when I
cut it out I preferred it facing the other way so I flipped it.
2. Traced elements should include: the body, the neck/handle, the head, a wing, and
as many feathers as you want.
3. Lay everything out to make sure it fits and works as planned. I had to do some
last minute trimming to make sure it all worked perfectly.
4. Hot glue whatever gemstones into place. I used one for his eye, and one on each
feather and one on the wing.
5. Hot glue the felt pieces into place. It is a layered look, so obviously you start with
the body, add the neck, the face, and then the feathers and wing.
6. I made the bow the way I make all my bows! Two loops that overlap
and then the tails added on.
7. I added the blue pom poms to make it look like my flamingo was sitting
on water.
Woven Baskets-
 Any kind of paper (Brown paper preferably)
 Clamp
 Scissors
 Craft glue
1. Firstly, we need to prepare our paper strips. This is a very important step because we
need to prepare an even number of strips of the same length and width. Keep in mind that
we need an even number (which will still have an even number of strips after diving into
2 groups) of paper strips (a minimum of 8) to weave this basket pattern. We then will
have to divide the strips into 2 even-numbered groups. For this tutorial, we are using a
total of 8 strips; dividing them into 2 even groups of 4 strips. The strips I am using were
scrap papers from A4 sheets. These are 11 inches long and 2.5 inches wide. I then did 3
even folds lengthwise to prepare the strips for weaving.
2. Grab any 2 paper strips and mark their middle part with a pen or pencil. Place the strips
on a flat surface criss-cross wise.
3. Take 3 paper strips and place them side by side with the vertical strip but making sure to
keep the pattern over and under with the horizontal strip.
4. Now grab the 3 other strips and weave them over and under horizontally to form the
square bottom base. make sure to keep the weave nice and adjacent.
5. This is very important. Use a pen or pencil to draw another square inside the bottom
base square by joining the middle points of each of its lines. The smaller square is going
to be the actual bottom base of the basket. Make folds along the small square lines to
create creases.
6. Let’s flip the woven piece to the other side. We will start the weaving with any 2 middle
strips.
7. Hold any 2 middle strips and weave one over the other one (the strip which is under its
previous strip should be woven over). Bring it over the next strip and pull them together
by 90 degrees.
8. Now, weave the next strips over and under. As each side has 4 strips, you can weave the 4
strips over and under for now to form the corner of the basket.
9. Use a clamp to secure the woven part. One by one weave the 3 other sides over and
under to form the rest of the corners of the basket.
10. Keep weaving until the basket reaches its required height or until there is enough length
of the strips left.
11. Make sure that at least half an inch of the shortest strip is left while weaving. the shortest
strip will determine the height of the basket. carefully find out the shortest strip and tuck
it inside. Now carefully and one by one tuck the rest of the strips inside by keeping the
height aligned with the shortest strip.
12. Apply glue on the tucked-in open ends to secure the weave.
Family Photo Storied Waterfront-
 Blue construction paper a4 size
 White drawing paper a3 size
 Construction paper and/or ribbed cardboard in several colours
 Scissors
 Glue
 Watercolour paint
 Brushes
 Jar with water
1. Cut rectangles of different heights and widths out of coloured paper. These are the
bodies of the houses. Cut several triangles out of red construction paper, these are the
roofs. Cut windows and doors.
2. Draw a line on 1 cm from the bottom of the blue sheet. Make a composition of the
houses on this line, starting with the highest ones. Place the shorter houses in front of
them (overlap). Paste the houses and roofs on the blue sheet. Paste windows and
doors on them in different colours.
3. When ready, paste the blue sheet with houses on a white A3 size sheet. Use
watercolour paint to paint the mirror image of the houses in the water. Paint as
precise as possible, but don't use a ruler: reflections in water aren't that straight!
Paint the water blue.
DIY Tambu Craft Drum-
 Cardboard Core/Tube* See Note Below
 Roll of 5cm wide clear tape (packing tape works great)
 Glue stick
 Roll of duct tape or electrical tape
 Two thick wooden skewers
 Wine bottle cork
 Scissors
 Craft knife with cutting mat
 Pencil
 Ruler
 Some paint and a paintbrush
1. Stick the beginning of the clear (cello) tape about 3cm down onto the side of the
drum, stretch the tape across the top of the cardboard tube as hard as you can
and stick it down 3cm on the opposite side of the drum.
2. Now it’s time to decorate your drum. You can paint it, use stickers, create a design
on the computer and print it out and glue it on (like we did), use different
coloured/patterned tapes, whatever creative way you want to make your drum
unique is perfect!
3. Using duct tape or electrical tape, wrap the top and bottom of the drum to secure
the cello tape down.
4. Cut the cork in half using a craft knife. Find the middle point of both pieces and
push the wooden skewers into each cork piece until you can feel the point almost
come out of the opposite ends. You may need a little force to do this.
