[Note: This proforma particular specification only specifies the general contractual
requirements and technical specification for the supply and installation of
rainwater recycling installation. The works may be incorporated under the
specialist sub-contract works for air-conditioning installation or as appropriate with
due considerations on project scale and nature. Project officer should address the
particular contractual requirements such as design responsibilities in the particular
specification for air-conditioning installation or as appropriate to incorporate the
scope of rainwater recycling installation works.]

1. Scope and Specification of Works

1.1 Installation /Systems

1.1.1 The scope of work shall include the design, supply,


installation, connection, testing and commissioning, and
maintenance of rainwater recycling installation as indicated
in the drawings or other parts of the tender documents.

[Note: Drawings - Project Engineer to liaise with PQS on


the list of drawings to be included in the Preliminaries.
Arch.S.D. Operating Instruction 5/96 - Requirements of
As-built Drawings, Manuals and Documents prior to Issue
of Maintenance Certificate will be included in the
Preliminaries of Tender Document by PQS. Project
Engineer shall check the adequacy of the provisions in the
above operating instruction and include any additional
requirements in the Preliminaries.]

1.1.2 The scope of rainwater recycling installation shall comprise


of the following:

(a) Rainwater collection tank and accessories including


level sensors, vent pipe, insect screen, drain valve, inlet
valve and overflow pipe, etc.; and the interface
pipeworks for rainwater inlet.

(b) Rainwater pump set and associated control/monitoring


facilities.

(c) Rainwater treatment plant including *activated carbon


cartridge / sand filters, ultraviolet (UV) disinfection
unit and associated control /monitoring facilities.

(d) Mixing tank and accessories including level sensors,
vent pipe, insect screen, drain valve, inlet valve and
overflow pipe, etc.

(e) Make-up break tank and accessories including level


sensors, vent pipe, insect screen, drain valve, inlet
valve and overflow pipe, etc.; and the interface
pipeworks for mains water supply.

(f) Pipeworks, valves and fittings.

(g) Warning and pipework identification labels.

(h) Control system and monitoring devices.

(i) Electrical works.

(j) Water sampling draw-off points.

[Note: Project Engineer to liaise with project team to


demarcate the scope between plumbing and rainwater
recycling installation works. The works of rainwater
catchments, gutter shielding devices, down pipes, etc. may
be under the scope of plumbing installation, while the
works of first flush device, rainwater collection tank,
rainwater treatment plant, make-up break tank, mixing
tank is under the scope of rainwater recycling installation,
and the works of distribution pipeworks for irrigation
application may be under the scope of plumbing
installation.]

[Note: If concrete tanks are to be designed, the works of


water tanks shall be under the scope of building
contractor.]

1.1.3 The works shall also include the provisions of operation and
maintenance manuals, trainings and analysis of water
samples.

1.2 Design Responsibilities

1.2.1 The *Contractor/Sub-contractor shall be responsible for the


design of the Rainwater Recycling Installation and selection
of equipment and components including the matching with
the components with other interfacing installations and to
ensure that the system(s) conform to the specified
performance requirements. The *Contractor/Sub-contractor
shall submit all design works including sizing, calculation,
schematic and detailed layout to the *Architect /Superviing
Officer for approval.

1.2.2 The *Contractor/Sub-contractor shall be responsible for
coordinating the rainwater catchment and down pipes
arrangement so as to optimize collection efficiency of
rainwater.

1.2.3 The *Contractor/Sub-contractor shall be responsible for the


selection of the proper, correct and consistent components to
match the system proposed with all requirements specified.
In the event that these requirements cannot be met due to the
use of improper, incorrect or inconsistent components, the
/Contractor/Sub-contractor shall replace all such components
and shall re-design the rainwater recycling installation, to the
satisfaction of the *Architect /Supervising Officer. All extra
costs thus incurred shall be borne by the *Contractor/Sub-
contractor.

1.2.4 The *Contractor/Sub-contractor shall submit all design


works including technical information, data and calculations
to the *Architect /Supervising Officer for approval.

[Note: Project Engineer should list out specific items that


require design input. The Project Engineer should discuss
with Project Quantity Surveyor on specifying this section as
there is a Clause on Design Responsibility in the Special
Conditions of Contract.]

1.2.5 The design of the rainwater recycling installation shall be


suitable for *irrigation /toilet flushing / general cleansing
purpose /insert others application as required. The system
shall be an integrated system such that make-up from the
Temporary Mains Fresh (TMF) of Water Supplies
Department (WSD) could be used for the application under
dry season.

1.2.6 The capacity of the rainwater collection tank shall be


designed to provide *2 weeks consumption of the intended
application. The sizes and extent of the catchment shall be
designed to suit the storage requirements according to the
rainfall record by the Hong Kong O Observatory.
*Notwithstanding, the effective capacity of the rainwater
collection tank shall not be less than ___litres.

[Note: Project Engineer should determine the suitable


consumption period to suit particular project application.
The minimum tank capacity could be specified if needed.]

1.2.7 First flush device shall be designed and provided for first
stage filtering of rainwater before entering into the rainwater
collection tank.

1.2.8 All sections of rainwater collection pipes shall be designed


and coordinated to direct downward. Collected rainwater

shall flow into the high level of the rainwater collection tank.
The design of the pipeworks shall have no rising section to
avoid potential traps of sediments or stagnant water.

1.2.9 Rainwater collection tank, mixing tank and make-up break


tank shall be designed to minimize the risk of contamination
from pollutants such as dust, leaves, pollens, pesticide
sprays, fertilizers, bird drops or insects, etc. Proper
screening devices in form of wire mesh shall be provided.

1.2.10 A rainwater treatment system with filtration and disinfection


functions shall be designed and provided. The filtration shall
be in the form of *sand filter /activated carbon cartridge
filter. The disinfection process shall be by ultra-violet (UV)
disinfection system. The rainwater treatment system shall be
designed to suit the flow rate of the application.

1.2.11 Rainwater pump shall be designed and provided if the


rainwater pressure by nature gravity fall from the rainwater
collection tank is not sufficient to overcome the frictional
losses of the treatment system and associated pipeworks.

1.2.12 A complete control system and its associated sensor /wiring


accessories shall be designed and provided to enable the
proper operation of the rainwater recycling system as
specified in this Specification, Drawings, and other
specifications as required.

1.2.13 Alarm system should be designed for rainwater treatment


system for monitoring. The minimum instrumentation shall
consist of alarms for critical treatment units including the
*sand filter /activated carbon cartridge filter and UV
sterilizing lamp to alert operator of malfunction.

1.2.14 Flow meter shall be designed and provided at the


downstream of the rainwater treatment system. The flow
meter shall be of digital type and able to provide reading for
accumulated water flow.

1.2.15 Suitable draw-off points with secured plugs shall be


designed and provided for water sampling purposes. The
water sampling points shall be well spread through out the
rainwater recycling system and shall include the far end
point of the distribution pipeworks.

1.2.16 A typical schematic arrangement is attached in Annex A for


reference.

[Note: This clause should be deleted if particular system


schematic drawings are to be prepared by the Project
Engineer.]

1.2.17 A health risk assessment in the planning and design of the
rainwater recycling installation shall be carried out before
the design of the system. The health risk assessment shall
consider the intended applications, site conditions, site
surrounding and various design constraints to identify the
potential risks. Risk mitigation measures to the identified
risks shall be proposed and incorporated in the design of the
rainwater recycling installation. The details of the risk
assessment shall be submitted for approval.

1.3 Compliance with Statutory Obligations, Regulations and Specifications

1.3.1 The rainwater recycling installation shall comply with the


following regulations and specifications together with any
supplements and amendments made thereto:-

(a) Waterworks Regulations;

(b) Water Supplies Department (WSD)’s requirements;

(c) General Specification for Electrical Installation of


Government Buildings of the Hong Kong Special
Administrative Region (hereinafter as EEGS);

(d) General Specification for Air-Conditioning,


Refrigeration, Ventilation and Central Monitoring &
Control System Installation in Government Buildings
of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
(hereinafter as ACGS);

(e) General Specification for Swimming Pool Water


Treatment Installation of Government Buildings of the Hong
Kong Special Administrative Region (hereinafter as SPGS);
and
(f) General Specification for Building.

[Note: Project Engineer should refer and insert the latest


editions of general specifications including corrigendum
and addendum as appropriate before the closing date of
tender.]

1.3.2 The rainwater recycling installation shall also comply with


all statutory obligations and regulations together with any
amendments made thereto as stipulated in EEGS, ACGS and
SPGS.

1.3.3 Others

[Note: This is a sub-section allowed for the addition of any particular


project information or supplementary technical requirements, etc.,
which may not be covered in either sub-section 1.3.1. In case this

sub-section is not applicable, "Not Used” shall be inserted instead of
deleting this sub-section.]

1.4 Technical Requirements

1.4.1 First Flush Device

(a) The first flush device shall be capable of preventing the


first 20 to 25 litres of rainwater per 100m 2 catchment
area to be entered into the rainwater collection tank.

(b) A slow release drain valve for automatic emptying the


chamber of the first flush device after rain shall be
provided. The diverted water shall be drained out via
the appropriate drainage system.

1.4.2 Rainwater Collection Tank

(a) The rainwater collection tank shall be provided and


installed with effective capacity to suit the design intent.
The tank shall comply with the requirements of
Waterworks Regulations.

(b) By-pass pipeworks shall be provided to divert the


rainwater to drain when the rainwater collection tank is
full. The size of overflow pipe shall not be less than the
diameter of the inlet pipe.

(c) Fibreglass water tanks shall comply with relevant


requirements in the SPGS.

(d) Proper insect screening devices in form of wire mesh


shall be provided for all openings and vent pipes.

(e) A warning label indicating “Caution – Non-drinking


water, do not drink” in English and “小心 - 非飲用水,
請勿飲用” in Chinese shall be provided and secured
in a proper and conspicuous side of all water tanks.

1.4.3 Mixing Tank

(a) The mixing tank shall be supplied and installed in


accordance with WSD’s Waterworks Drawing No.
W1543/5B.

(b) Fibre glass water tanks shall comply with relevant


requirements in the SPGS.

(c) Size of overflow pipe shall be twice the diameter of the


respective largest inlet pipe or 40mm diameter,
whichever is greater.

(d) Proper insect screening devices in form of wire mesh
shall be provided for all openings and vent pipes.

(e) A warning label indicating “Caution – Non-drinking


water, do not drink” in English and “小心 - 非飲用水,
請勿飲用” in Chinese shall be provided and secured
in a proper and conspicuous side of all water tanks.

1.4.4 Make-up Break Tank

(a) The make-up break tank shall provide a means of


isolation between the make-up water supply and
rainwater recycling installation. The tank shall comply
with the requirement of waterworks regulations.

(b) Fibreglass water tanks shall comply with relevant


requirements in the SPGS.

(c) Proper insect screening devices in form of wire mesh


shall be provided for all openings and vent pipes.

(d) A warning label indicating “Caution – Non-drinking


water, do not drink” in English and “小心 - 非飲用水,
請勿飲用” in Chinese shall be provided and secured
in a proper and conspicuous side of all water tanks.

1.4.5 Rainwater Pump Set

(a) The rainwater pump shall be sized and selected with


sufficient pressure head and flow rate to deliver
collected rainwater from the rainwater collection tank to
the mixing tank through the filtration and treatment
system.

(b) Unless other specified, there shall be at least one


standby pump in addition to the duty pump for each
pump set.

(c) Unless otherwise specified, the rainwater pump shall


comply with Clause B1.2.1 of the SPGS.

(d) Local motor control panel for the rainwater pump shall
comply with Clause C5.26 of the EEGS.

(e) The installation and technical requirements of the


rainwater pump motor shall comply with relevant
clauses of the EEGS.

(f) A basket type strainer with removable stainless steel


basket shall be provided upstream the rainwater pump.

[Note: Project Engineer should insert suitable technical
requirements if the rainwater recycling installation is of
small scale and the use of packaged pump set other than
that specified in above clauses is considered more
appropriate.]

1.4.6 Rainwater Treatment Plant

(a) The rainwater treatment plant shall comprise of *sand


filter /activated carbon cartridge filter, ultraviolet (UV)
disinfection system and associated pipework, electrical
accessories, automatic control and monitoring
equipment, structural support and all other necessary
accessories.

[Note: The following clauses should be stated if sand filter


system is to be designed and provided. If activated carbon
cartridge filter is to be used, these clauses should be
deleted. ]

(b) Sand filter shall comply with requirements in SPGS.

(c) To allow efficient distribution of water in the filter, the


inlet and outlet distribution pipe shall be designed to
cross the whole length of the filter for horizontal tank
and cross the whole diameter of the filter for vertical
tank. Internal inflow diffuser for even distribution of
water flow across the filter bed shall be provided inside
the filter vessel.

(d) Each filter tank shall be equipped with inlet and outlet
pressure gauges and differential pressure sensor (for
auto-control backwash) for filtering and automatic
backwashing operations. The automatic backwashing
operations shall also be controlled by timer in the
control system.

(e) The filter vessel shall have suitably sized inlet and outlet
connections, drain connection, access ports and vent
fittings if required. The vessel shall be equipped with
automatic air vent, manual air vent, manual drain valve
and pressure gauge mounted on tank for accurate
reading.

(f) Filter bed shall consist of at least two but preferably


more layers of filter media, each having a different
particle size properly supported by a suitable under
drain.

(g) The filtering media shall consist of *quartz sand /a


composite filter media containing quartz sand and
granular activated carbon. Quartz sand shall be 0.4 to

0.8 mm grain. *Activated carbon shall be granular
activated carbon with mean particle diameter of 0.9 to
1.1mm. (To be deleted if not required). The depth of
filter media shall be sized according to the plant
capacity and the manufacturer’s recommendation for
low to medium filtering rate. The sand filter shall have
minimum 90% particulate removal efficiency for
particle size of 10 micro meters.

[Note: The following clauses should be stated if activated


carbon cartridge filter system is to be designed and provided.
If sand filter is to be used, these clauses should be deleted. ]

(h) The activated carbon cartridge filter shall be capable of


filtering sediment, colour and odour for raw rainwater
filtration application. It shall consist of a cartridge filter
element and its housing body.

(i) The body of the activated carbon cartridge filter shall be


of fibreglass reinforced plastic (FRP) or injection
moulded high impact plastic for durability. It shall be
UV and corrosion resistant.

(j) The filter element shall be of pleated activated carbon


impregnated polyester for providing extra filtration area
for high dirt loading capacity.

(k) Thermoplastic rubber gaskets shall be provided at all


maintenance openings for effective sealing.

(l) The filter shall not release carbon fines during


operation.

(m) The activated carbon cartridge filter shall have


minimum 90% particulate removal efficiency for
particle size of 20 micro meters.

[Note: Other particulate filtration performance, e.g.


10 micro meters, should be stated if required for
particular project application.]

(n) The UV disinfection system shall comply with relevant


clauses in SPGS.

1.4.7 Pipeworks, Valves and Fittings

(a) All pipes and fittings shall comply with Waterworks


Regulations and guidelines issued by Water Supplies
Department (WSD).

(b) Unless otherwise specified, pipe materials used in
rainwater recycling system shall be of UPVC type
complying with relevant clauses in SPGS.
(c)

(d) All valves and fittings shall be able to resist the


corrosion of chemicals likely to be present in the
rainwater. Valves and accessories shall comply with
relevant clauses of SPGS.

(e) All plant room valves and circuit control valves shall be
provided with approved plastic labels. A circuit control
diagram of appropriate size showing the location of
each isolating, regulating and control valve shall be
provided and fixed in a glazed hardwood frame in a
position indicated by the *Architect /Supervising
Officer.

(f) A warning label indicating “Caution – Non-drinking


water, do not drink” in English and “小心 - 非飲用水,
請勿飲用” in Chinese shall be provided and secured
at all water draw-off points.

(g) The distribution pipework and outlet fittings for use of


recycled rainwater shall be designed to prevent
improper use as potable water. All components of the
rainwater recycling installation shall be clearly and
consistently identified. Identification shall be as the
three band color code identification band system as
specified in BS 1710. The identification scheme shall
be submit for approval.

1.4.8 Control System and Monitoring Devices

(a) The functions of the control system shall include, but


not limited to, start/stop/changeover of rainwater pump
set, activation of rainwater treatment plant, backwash
operation, water level monitoring and control,
motorized valve control, fault indications and system
interface.

(b) The control system shall interface with the water level
sensors in the rainwater collection tank, mixing tanks
and UV disinfection system such that the UV lamp will
only be operated a certain period before the operation of
the filtration and treatment plant. A minimum of 2
minutes warm-up time for the UV lamp is required
before the operation of rainwater treatment plant.

(c) The *Contractor/Sub-contractor shall submit the


detailed control strategy and control flow diagram to the
*Architect /Supervising Officer for approval.

(d) The control panel for rainwater recycling system control
shall be of wall-mounted type, unless otherwise
specified, to house all the control and monitoring
equipment. The panel material shall be stainless steel to
Grade 316. Protection class of the cabinet shall be not
less than IP44 for indoor and IP55 for outdoor
application. The entire surface shall be applied with
chemical rust inhibitor, rust resisting primer coat and
topcoat to give maximum corrosion protection. Anti-
condensation heater shall be provided. All indicating
lamp shall be of light emitted diode (LED) type.

1.4.9 Control Interface with Central Monitoring and Control


System (CCMS)

[Note: For project without the installation of CCMS,


Project Officer should delete/revise this clause to suit
individual project application]

(a) The *Contractor/Sub-contractor shall supply and install


an interface marshalling box for ready interface by the
CCMS installation contractor. All the required control
and monitoring points, either digital or analogue, shall
be terminated in the marshalling box.

(b) The interfacing points shall include, but not limited to,
the following:

- Water levels from all level sensors


- On/off/status of rainwater pump
- Running time of the rainwater pump
- Local/remote switch status
- On/off/status of UV disinfection system
- Normal /backwashing status of sand filter
- Differential pressure of the sand filter
- On/off/status of motorized control valve
- Flow rate from flow meter
- Energy data from energy meter

1.4.10 Electromagnetic and Ultrasonic Flow Meter

(a) The flow meter shall comply with relevant clauses of


SPGS.

(b) The flow meter shall be able to interface with the


Central Monitoring and Control System (CCMS) by
RS485.

[Note: Above clause should be deleted if CCMS is not


applicable for project application.]

1.4.11 Digital Multifunction Power Meter

(a) Digital multifunction power meter shall be provided to


measure and record the electrical parameters of
rainwater pump motor. The meter shall comply with
relevant clause of EEGS.

(b) The energy meter shall be capable of interfacing with


the Central Monitoring and Control System (CCMS) via
RS485.

[Note: Above clause should be deleted if CCMS is not


applicable for project application.]

1.4.12 Electrical Works

(a) The *Contractor/Sub-contractor shall take and connect


power from the isolator switch installed by other
contractor to the rainwater recycling system installation.
All the power supply distribution and circuit protection
downstream the isolator switch shall be carried out by
the *Contractor/Sub-contractor.

(b) A separate motor control panel shall be provided for the


rainwater pump. The control panel shall be of wall-
mounted type, unless otherwise specified, to house the
motor starter and switchgear. The panel material shall
be stainless steel to Grade 316.

(c) Anti-condensation heater shall be provided for motor


control panel. The anti-condensation heater shall be
controlled such that the heater shall be de-energised
when the starter is switched on and vice versa. Heaters
shall be wired from the motor control panel.

(d) All indicating lamp shall be of light emitted diode


(LED) type.

2. Constraints Applicable to the Installation

[Note: Project Engineer shall list out particular constraints to this


installation work. In case this section is not applicable, "Not Used” shall be
inserted instead of deleting this section. Examples are as shown below:-]

The following conditions shall be complied with in the execution of the work:

2.1 Health risk assessment before the design development of the


installation.

2.2 Special precautionary measures for unintended potable use of the


recycled rainwater.

2.3 Water sampling and monitoring requirements.

2.4 Other items to be specified to suit specific project design requirement

3. Testing and Commissioning

3.1 Compliance with Testing and Commissioning Procedures

3.1.1 The *Contractor/Sub-contractor shall test and commission the


electrical works in accordance with the latest edition of the
Testing & Commissioning Procedure for Electrical Installation in
Government Buildings of the Hong Kong Special Administrative
Region before the closing date of tender, unless otherwise
specified on the Drawings or in this Particular Specification.

3.1.2 The *Contractor/Sub-contractor shall test and commission the


rainwater treatment plant in accordance with the latest edition of
the Testing & Commissioning Procedure for Swimming Pool
Filtration Plant Installation in Government Buildings of the Hong
Kong Special Administrative Region before the closing date of
tender, unless otherwise specified on the Drawings or in this
Particular Specification.

3.1.3 The *Contractor/Sub-contractor shall submit detailed testing and


commissioning procedures and programme to the *Architect
/Supervising Officer for approval.

3.1.4 The *Contractor/Sub-contractor shall submit all off site test


certificates and certification records as required prior to the
testing and commissioning work at the Site.

3.2 Testing and Commissioning Procedures for Special Items

[Note: Project Engineer should list out special items not being
covered by existing Testing and Commissioning Procedures for
which the relevant applicable particular testing and commissioning
requirements shall be specified under this sub-section. In case this
sub-section is not applicable, "Not Used” shall be inserted instead of
deleting this sub-section. Examples are as shown below:-]

3.2.1 The *Contractor/Sub-contractor shall follow the approved


manufacturer’s recommendation on the testing and
commissioning of any proprietary system and product included
in the installation. Details shall be submitted to the *Architect
/Supervising Officer for approval.

3.2.2 The *Contractor/Sub-contractor shall in particular submit the


procedure for testing and commissioning of the following items
to the *Architect /Supervising Officer for approval:

(a) First flush device

(b) Control and operation of rainwater collection tank, mixing
tank and make-up break tank

(c) Rainwater pump set

(d) Water sampling, monitoring and analysis

(e) Others as appropriate

[Note: to be specified if required]

3.3 Particular Requirements on Testing and Commissioning Schedules


/Sequences

3.3.1 Water Sampling and Analysis

(a) Water sampling and analysis process shall be carried out


for monitoring of water quality of the treated rainwater.
Laboratory water sampling test is required after the
completion of the installation and on a quarterly basis
during the defects liability period.

(b) Water sampling and laboratory analysis shall be provided


for the following parameters:

- E-coli (number/100mL)
- Legionella (number/litre)
- Total coliforms (number/100mL)
- Suspended solids (mg/litre)
- Turbidity (NTU)
- 5 days biochemical oxygen demand, BOD5 (mg/litre)
- Residual chlorine (mg/litre)
- pH value

[Note: other water sampling parameters to be specified if


required by the design and application]

(c) Water samples shall be taken from the mixing tank and the
far end points of the distribution pipeworks or water draw-
off points. It is preferable to collect water samples just
before the recycled rain water enters the mixing tank.
Sampling tap, if provided, shall be run for at least 10
seconds with the recycled rain water discharged to the
drainage system prior to sampling. The sampling tap shall
be flushed at least once a month.

(d) Water samples taken in containers shall be in accordance to


AS 2031.2:2001 or BS 7592:1992 or BS EN ISO 5667-
3:2003 or equivalent in terms of selection of suitable
sampling container and preservation of the sample for later

or specialist contractor in order to ensure no contamination
throughout the process from water sample collection to
laboratory test. Samples shall not be frozen. Analysis of the
samples shall be commenced within 24 hours of the sample
taken.

(e) The laboratory that is responsible to carry out the testing


and analysis of the water samples shall be accredited by the
Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme of any
equivalent accreditation authority.

[Note: Project Engineer to specify any additional particular project


requirements in connection with testing and commissioning
procedures. Examples are as below:- ]

3.3.2 All submissions relating to testing and commissioning such as


detailed commissioning and testing procedure, methods, format
of test records, program for the commissioning and testing are to
be submitted to the *Architect /Supervising Officer at least
________ weeks prior to the commencement of testing and
commissioning work.

3.3.3 [List out special tests to be performed by competent persons.]

3.3.4 [List out special requirements of independent tests conducted by


recognised agents, independent checker, test certificates, factory
tests, off-site tests, and certification records, etc.]

testing and commissioning programme/sequence/methodology.]

3.4 Others

[Note: This is a sub-section allowed for the addition of any particular


project information or supplementary technical requirements, etc.,
which may not be covered in either section 3.1 to 3.3. In case this
sub-section is not applicable, "Not Used” shall be inserted instead of
deleting this sub-section.]

4. Maintenance and Training

4.1 Maintenance Requirements

4.1.1 Free service and maintenance for the rainwater recycling


installation for a period of 12 months from the date of certifying
substantial completion of the contract shall be provided.

[Note: Project Officer shall adopt/revise this clause to suit


particular project application]

4.1.2 The maintenance service shall include systematic and monthly
inspection, adjustment, cleaning and lubrication of all
equipment. Repair the electrical and mechanical parts of the
equipment whenever required, and only genuine standard parts
produced by the manufacturer of the equipment shall be used.
All works under this maintenance provision shall be performed
by competent personnel under the supervision and in direct
employment of the *Contractor /Sub-contractor.

4.1.3 The maintenance service shall also include quarterly water


sampling and laboratory analysis for the rainwater recycling
installation. Detail requirements shall refer to relevant sections
of this particular specification or other specifications as required.

4.1.4 At the end of the defects liability period complete inspection and
tests shall be carried out on the plant by the *Contractor /Sub-
contractor with the presence of the *Architect’s representative
/Supervising Officer’s Representative, any defects found shall be
rectified by the *Contractor /Sub-contractor without charge to
the Employer.

4.1.5 A log book shall be provided and kept in the plant room to
record all faults, rectification works and services carried out by
the *Contractor /Sub-contractor during the maintenance period.

4.1.6 Spare parts for equipment which require replacement during


defects liability period, e.g. sensors shall be allowed. At the end
of defects liability period, the *Contractor /Sub-contractor shall
provide/replace with a complete new set for the whole system.
Equipment with operation life longer than the defects liability
period need not be replaced.

4.2 Training Requirements

[Note: Similarly, the particular training requirements or applicable


options of training specified in the General Specifications should be
explicitly given for compliance by the contractor. In case this section
is not applicable, "Not Used” shall be inserted instead of deleting this
section. Examples are as below:-]

The *Contractor/Sub-contractor shall provide adequate and separate


training courses to the persons nominated by the *Architect
/Supervising Officer to enable them to understand and familiarize with
the installation.

[List out explicitly other particular training requirements for users


and management staff.]
