1
PREFACE

The project has been made by my own efforts using the knowledge and skills
that I have learnt during this research period. This project is based on the
Consumer buying behaviour analysis of Mahendra centuro. There may have
faults in this project as I am a fresher in learning. Since, I had acquired a
sufficient amount of knowledge on this topic, I tried out my best to present this
project report in a proper way. This project is not well enough for a large
organization but I think that it will be helpful for new trainees as well as my
juniors who want to have readymade information about the given topic. I have
taken help from a variety of social networking sites, Google and many other
books.

Introduction

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (M&M) is an Indian multinational automotive manufacturing

corporation headquartered in Mumbai. It was established in 1945 as Mahindra & Mohammed
and later renamed as Mahindra & Mahindra. Part of the Mahindra Group, M&M is one of the
largest vehicle manufacturers by production in India. Its unit Mahindra Tractors is the largest
manufacturer of tractors in the world by volume. It was ranked 17th on a list of top
companies in India by Fortune India 500 in 2018. Its major competitors in the Indian market
include Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors.

Anand Mahindra is the Chairman of the Mahindra Group. His tenure has seen the Group
expand domestically and internationally into a range of major industrial sectors from
automobiles and agriculture to IT and aerospace.

7
History
 Mahindra & Mahindra was founded as a steel trading company on 2 October 1945
in Ludhiana as Mahindra & Mohammed by brothers Kailash Chandra
Mahindra and Jagdish Chandra Mahindra along with Malik Ghulam
Muhammad. Anand Mahindra, the present Chairman of Mahindra Group, is the
grandson of Jagdish Chandra Mahindra.
 In 1948, the company changed its name to Mahindra & Mahindra. They eventually
saw a business opportunity in expanding into manufacturing and selling larger MUVs
and started assembling under license of the Willys Jeep in India. Soon, M&M was
established as the Jeep manufacturer in India, later commenced manufacturing light
commercial vehicles (LCVs) and agricultural tractors.

 In 1999, Mahindra purchased 100% of Gujarat Tractors from the Government of
Gujarat and in 2017 Mahindra renamed it as Gromax Agri Equipment Limited, as part
of new brand strategy and the models continue to be sold as Trakstar.
 In 2007, M&M acquired Punjab Tractor Limited (PTL) making it the world's largest
tractor manufacturer. Subsequent to this take-over, the former PTL was merged into
M&M and transformed as Swaraj division of Mahindra & Mahindra in the year 2009.
 Over the past few years, the company has taken interest in new industries and in
foreign markets. In 2008, they entered the two-wheeler industry by taking
over Kinetic Motors in India.
 In 2010, M&M took a 55% stake in the REVA Electric Car Company and in 2016,
they renamed it Mahindra Electric Mobility Ltd after taking 100% ownership.
 In 2011 Mahindra acquired a majority stake of South Korea's SsangYong Motor,
turning it into a subsidiary. In December 2020, after Mahindra stopped funding it,
SsangYong entered into receivership, de facto no longer being a Mahindra subsidiary

8
from that point on, and de jure after November 2022, when a KG Group-led
consortium completed the acquisition procedures for a controlling stake, moving
SsangYong out of receivership.
 In October 2014, Mahindra acquired a 51% controlling stake in Peugeot Motocycles and a
100% controlling stake in October 2019.

 In May 2015, Mahindra acquired a 33.33% stake in Japanese tractor

manufacturer Mitsubishi Agricultural Machinery (MAM), a subsidiary of Mitsubishi
Heavy Industries.
 In December 2015, Mahindra and its affiliate Tech Mahindra, through a special
purpose vehicle (SPV), agreed to buy a 76.06% stake in Italian car
designer Pininfarina, for €25.3 million (around Rs.186.7 crore).
 In March 2016, Mahindra acquired 35% of Finland-based Sampo Rosenlew, entering
the combine harvester business, subsequently increasing its stake in the company to
49.04% in December 2019.
 In January 2017, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd acquired a 75.1 equity stake in Hisarlar
Makina Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonym Şirketi (Hisarlar), a farm equipment company,
marking its entry into Turkey and in September 2017 acquired another Turkish tractor
and foundry business Erkunt Traktor Sanayii AS for ₹800 crore.
 In November 2017, Mahindra signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU)
agreement with Belgium-based Dewulf, a supplier of a full line of potato and root
crop machinery. Under the agreement, Mahindra will manufacture and market potato
planting equipment in India, for which the co-branded planter is developed.
 In January 2018, Mahindra announced its foray into the sprayers business through the
acquisition of a 26% equity stake in M.I.T.R.A. Agro Equipments Pvt Ltd, a
Maharashtra-based AgTech company (MITRA). In March 2020, Mahindra further
increased its stake in the company to 39%.
 In February 2018, Mahindra acquired a minority stake of 22.9% percent in Carnot
Technologies. Carnot Technologies owns and operates smart car solutions firm
CarSense.
 In May 2018, Mahindra signed a share subscription agreement to acquire up to 10%
share capital of Canada's IT firm Resson Aerospace Corporation. Resson is focussed
on providing technology solutions for agriculture. It has developed a system that

9
captures and interprets images to give farmers information about the state of their
fields and crops.
 In June 2019, Mahindra purchased an 11.25% stake in Switzerland-based agro
technology firm Gamaya. The acquisition enabled Mahindra to further develop and
deploy next-generation farming capabilities such as precision agriculture and digital
farming technologies.
 In April 2020, Mahindra and Renault ended its joint venture which operated from
2005 onwards, with Mahindra buying out Renault's stake. Renault continues to license
and supply key components such as engines and transmissions to Mahindra &
Mahindra.
 In October 2019, Mahindra entered into a joint venture with Ford by establishing Ford
India in which Mahindra & Mahindra acquired a controlling 51% stake. In January
2021, Mahindra ended its collaboration with Ford owing to global economic and
business conditions caused by the pandemic.
 Recently, Mahindra's tractor unit launched TREM IV pollution norms-complaint
tractors, which have common rail direct injection technology. Mahindra has launched
a total of 6 tractors with CRDI technology, one of these being the Arjun Novo 605 DI
PP.

Mahindra Centuro 100cc

How is the design of Mahindra Centuro?

The Mahindra Centuro looks stylish enough for a commuter bike. The tail light is shared with
Mahindra’s earlier Pantero but the remaining elements are brand new including the multi
colored body decals, grab rails, fuel tank, bikini fairing and golden twin-bar wrapping the
fuel tank.

How does the Mahindra Centuro ride?

The Mahindra Centuro rides well with engine vibrations remaining within limits most of the
time and only shooting up while venturing to 8000 RPM. Acceleration is good and 3-6000
RPM is the sweet spot for the bike. Responses are good at low engine speeds while 65 kmph
of cruising speeds are also readily manageable. The four speed gearbox is slightly clumsy and
hesitant, particularly if you are swiftly downshifting. The up-shifting is smoother while gear
ratios are neatly worked out. Ride quality is great with the telescopic front forks and five-way
adjustable rear coil springs working in tandem. The default setting gets just the right amount
of stifness while there is confident and light handling. Braking quality could have been
slightly better.

15
How comfortable is Mahindra Centuro?

The Mahindra Centuro offers good comfort and a really snug riding position. The tank has
decent support for knees of riders with the wide and long seat being another major plus point
in this regard.

How’s the tech?

The Mahinrda Centuro comes with several cutting-edge features including the engine
immobilizer for greater safety and also an LED parking light, anti-theft alarm and the
innoavtive flip key which comes with 96-bit secure access. Riders also get to use the fully
digital instrument cluster. Other tech features include Find Me and Guide Me Home lamps.

How’s the mileage of Mahindra Centuro?

The Mahindra Centuro offers good mileage of 85.4 kilometres per litre which is ideal for
commuters looking to get the most out of their bike’s performance in this regard.

How is the performance of Mahindra Centuro?

The Mahindra Centuro offers decent performance for in-city and shorter commutes. It gets a
106.7 cc engine that dishes out peak power and torque figures of 8.4 BHP and 8.5 Nm
respectively. Overall performance is satisfactory for riders.

Is the Mahindra Centuro good value for money ?

The Mahindra Centuro offers good value for money at its price point. It gets a competitive
price tag for a commuter bike, comes with a fully digital instrument console, flip key and
engine immobilizer among other key features, ensures great mileage of 85.4 kmpl and also
gets a reasonably powerful engine and riding comfort. Design-wise, the bike gets a few
special touches which elevate the overall look including multi-colored body decals. It is a
good value for money option in its segment.

37
SUGGESTION:

 Mahindra & Mahindra is rated 3.9 out of 5, based on 39.3k reviews by employees on
Ambition Box. Mahindra & Mahindra is known for Job Security which is rated at the
top and given a rating of 3.8. However, Career growth is rated the lowest at 3.4 and
can be improved.
 Mahindra is a company which is widely know for its four wheelers vehicles and after
the survey I came know that customer are unaware about the products offered by
Mahindra as customer was not aware that Mahindra also sells two wheeler vehicles as
well.
 So my suggestion to the Mahindra Ltd is, they should advertise about their products
more so that the customer are aware about the various services and good offered by
Mahindra .
 All in all, Mahindra and Mahindra is a distinct company and brand that has sustained
itself efficiently over the years. Their focus on innovation and technology has always
come in handy and helped them grow. In the domestic market, their strong presence is
undeniable.
 As majority of the customer give opinion that they are satisfied ,services and design
of the product of the company shouldn’t only maintain the existing standard but also
enhance them.
 Majority of the respondents are satisfied with the safety and comfort of Mahindra
Centuro, the company should maintain the same standard and it is suggested to come
up with suitable measure to reduce any negative opinion among the customer.

LIMITATION

38
 Lack of professionalism is one of the major drawbacks to this particular study.
Because professionals can do much better.
 Due to the lack of some research skills like communication, the efficiency of the
report may decrease.
 The area of study was only limited to the Sagar region, so it was applicable only to
that area.
 Some respondents show a mere response to sharing information.
 Some respondents just randomly fill the questionnaire without reading it.
 TIME FACTOR : There is a lack of time to complete which has affected the research.
 Few customers refuse to cooperate for the research in the fear of their data disclosure.

CONCLUSION:

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (M&M) is an Indian multinational automotive manufacturing

corporation headquartered in Mumbai. It was established in 1945 as Mahindra & Mohammed

39
and later renamed as Mahindra & Mahindra. Part of the Mahindra Group, M&M is one of the
largest vehicle manufacturers by production in India.
Mahindra and Mahindra motors has a very good market share in every state .The company is
offering good services, which is reflected on the satisfaction of the customer. Majority of the
customer are satisfied with the design of the vehicle.
Mahindra and Mahindra motors are providing better facility compared with other brand. As
67% of the respondents are satisfied that they are happy with Centuro, it is good that the
customer image and perception are high and mostly positive, thus it will be good if the
company can maintain the same customer in the future.
