What are the basic skills in athletics?
Fundamental movement skills are basic movements such as throwing, kicking,running, jumping, hopping
and catching.
Aggregate Jumps
2. (10 mins) Place various coloured ground markers, evenly spaced, along the edge of the sand pit. Players line up on
the runway.Players score points by landing next to the ground markers. Further jumps lead to progressively
more points. Eg. First marker = 1 point, second marker = 2 points and so on. Players can compete in teams
and add up team scores.

Zone Long Jump Relay


Mark a 10 m long jump run up. Players line up behind this marker on the runway. Landing is in the long
jump pit marked in three even zones. The first zone begins about one metre from the take off area. A
ground marker is placed three metres beyond the end of the last zone. The players line up at the start of the

next player. Each jump scores according to the zone landed in. See how many points the players can score
