1.1 What is Heat Transfer?


• Science to deal with heat transfer rate from a particular medium to
another one.
• Unlike thermodynamics dealing with equilibrium states of
mediums, Heat transfer deals with nonequilibrium conditions of
mediums (lack of thermal equilibrium).
• Heat transfer occurs as a result of temperature difference, driving
force, between mediums.
