SEASON 99 NCAA BADMINTON COMPETITION

Narrative Report
It was a beautiful Monday morning full of excitement when the Season 99 National
Collegiate Athletic Association Badminton Competition opened shop at Power-up Centro
Atletico Badminton Center on October 16, 2023. The opening ceremony was graced by the
MANCOM members and the Guest Speaker is no other than the Spokesperson of the Office of
the Vice President and currently the Department of Education Assistant Secretary for
Procurement Atty. Reynold Munsayac. The games is officially declared open by Rev. Fr.
Virgilio M. Paredes Jr., OAR, the Chairman of Season 99 Badminton Tournament.

 Right after the opening program and after the ceremonial serve by the MANCOM
members, Day 1 competition started, it was indeed an intense and exciting matches
wherein all the participating teams came prepared for Season 99 Badminton
Competition.

 Day 2 and Day 3 is the elimination phase wherein the top four (4) teams in all levels
(Juniors (Boys) and Seniors (Men and Women) advances to the semi-final phase.

 Day 4 is the most important phase, which is the semi-final phase, top two (2) teams in
every level has a twice to beat advantage over teams no. 3 and no. 4.

 Day 5 is the last day of the Season 99 Badminton Competition, wherein the winners
in the semi-final phase will play to determine the Season 99 Badminton Champion
and 1 Runner-up, in like manner for the losers of the semi-final phase to determine

the 2 Runner-up. The Battle for 3 Place is a new format because in the previous

staging of the NCAA Badminton Competition, the Battle for 3 Place is not being

played anymore.

Finally the Season 99 Badminton Tournament was successfully done, this will not be possible
without the full support of MANCOM members for watching, cheering and supporting their
respective teams likewise also to all the participating teams, the players, the coaches, parents and
their supporters for their cooperation and strict compliance of the Technical and Additional
Guidelines for the successful conduct of the Tournament.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SEASON 100 (Centennial) AND ONWARDS

In support to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) thrust of promoting


the holistic development and optimal performance of student-athletes the following are
recommended :

 Inclusion of The Rookie of the Year (ROY) as a regular special award in addition to
MVP and Best Coach in all levels.

 One (1) Team Tie per day shall be played in all levels by each participating teams.
The level of competition in all levels in the Season 99 Badminton Tournament was
more than a notch higher compared to the previous staging of the tournament, we
need also to adjust the time allocated for every team ties, the two (2) hours allotted
for every team tie is not enough.

 We also recommend to adapt the International format for Team Tie Competition,
wherein five (5) events are being played, three (3) singles and two (2) doubles, the
order of play are as follows :

The minimum number of players are four (4) and maximum of eight (8)
A player can play two (2) events (Singles and Doubles)

Our current set-up, we play the SDS (Singles-Doubles-Singles), the number of


players is seven (6 regular players and 1 reserved)
