“Tragedy 11 september”

The eleven attacks or also known as the 9/11 attacks where that day there was a disaster that
befell America, namely the attacks carried out by a number of terrorists, in which there were
four terrorist attacks that carried out suicide attacks that had been arranged against several
targets in Washington d.c and New york.on September 11, 2001.
That morning, 19 hijackers from the militant group al-Qaeda, hijacked four passenger jets.
The hijackers intentionally crashed two planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade
Center in New York City; both towers collapsed within two hours. The hijackers also crashed
a third plane into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. When passengers attempted to take
over the fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, it crashed in a field near Shanksville,
Pennsylvania and failed to reach its original target in Washington, D.C. According to the 911
investigative team report, about 3,000 people died in this attack, making it the highest-
grossing terrorist attack in history.
The blame immediately fell on al-Qaeda, and in 2004, group leader Osama bin Laden, who
initially refused to be involved, claimed responsibility for the attack. Al-Qaeda and bin Laden
also cited US support for Israel, the presence of US troops in Saudi Arabia, and sanctions
against Iraq as motives for this attack. The United States responded to this attack by
launching the War on Terror by invading Afghanistan to overthrow the Taliban who sheltered
al-Qaeda members. Many countries are strengthening their anti-terrorism laws and expanding
their law enforcement powers. In May 2011, after years of hounding, President Barack
Obama announced that bin Laden was found and shot dead by US marines, although no
published evidence has yet clearly stated his death. This devastation had serious
repercussions on the economy of Lower Manhattan.
Land clearing for the World Trade Center was completed in May 2002. The National
September 11 Memorial & Museum is scheduled to open on September 11, 2011. Near the
memorial is the 1,776 ft (541 m) One World Trade Center which is expected to be completed
in 2013. The Pentagon was repaired within a year, and the Pentagon Memorial was opened
next door in 2008. Land acquisition for the Flight 93 National Memorial took place in
November 2009, and the memorial officially opened on September 10, 2011.
