Knowledge for English Language Teaching (ELT). Each
course includes 30 to 40 hours of self-paced, online work

to teach their national curriculum successfully and with
confidence.
Developed by National Geographic Learning, ELTeach was

HUBS Peer Learning Hubs (PLHs) are an important part of the ELTT3
program enhancing learning in the ELTeach self-study online courses.
PLHs are a small group of 10-12 teachers who take the self-study
course at the same time, guided by one trainer per hub who leads
practice, reflection, and application tasks in the interactive, review
workshops. PLHs provide a professional learning community in which
teachers interact to gain deeper understanding of course content
and support as they try out new skills in the classroom. The PLHs help
teachers contextualize the course content through collaboration and
one provide accountability of the online self-study work, thus overcoming
trainer the limitations of self-study.
per PLH
PLH trainers deliver eight interactive workshops designed to help
teachers practice the language and content they learn in the ELTeach
courses. As always, ELTT3 integrates experiential learning, practical
activities and reflection into all components of these workshops to
promote teachers’ critical thinking about teaching and strengthen
their application of new ideas to aid student learning.

ABOUT US

The English Language Teacher Training Program is funded by the Regional English Language
Office of the U.S. Embassy and implemented by World Learning.
The Regional English Language Office (RELO) is part of the Public Diplomacy Section of the
U.S. Embassy Jakarta. RELO’s mission is to support the effective teaching and learning of
English in Indonesia while enhancing mutual understanding between our nations. RELO
collaborates with Indonesian ministries and agencies, teacher’s associations, and universities
in supporting teacher education, training, and professional development. RELO supports
English language training because it expands access to local and global employment,
particularly for youth, and enables access to academic and professional exchange
opportunities in the United States.
RELO initiated the ELTT program in 2021 with implementing partner World Learning, a U.S.
non-governmental organization. The pilot program successfully trained 12 senior faculty
members in state Islamic universities as “Master Trainers” of English language instruction, 56
junior faculty “Trainers,” and enhanced the skills of 280 madrasah and pesantren teachers. The
second iteration of ELTT 2 in 2023 had 40 trainers who trained about 600 teachers from
madrasahs, pesantren, and other schools affiliated with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and
the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
For over 90 years, World Learning has worked to improve global education to ensure schools
and teachers have the tools they need to support students—including English language
instruction. Our distinct approach to change incorporates five key elements: experiential
learning, leadership development, inclusive practices, innovation, and grants management.
We collaborate with local partners to find solutions that will truly work for each community.
Together, we create the foundations for a better tomorrow.
