Good afternoon, Teacher!

How are you?

We’re all okay, Teacher!

That’s nice to hear! But before

anything else, stand up and let’s
pray.

(Opening Prayer played and

everyone prayed.)

You may now sit, class. Have you

eaten your snacks?

(Baby Shark Submarine played.)

Yes, Teacher!

C. Review (The students danced happily.)

It looks like you are all ready and

happy to start the discussion,
students. But before that, Teacher
will ask you some questions about
the topic yesterday which is the
National Symbols of the
Philippines.

Raise your hand if you want to

answer, okay? Wait for me to call
you before you speak.

1. What is our National Bird?

raise your hand.

(Student 6 raised his hand.)

Student 6: Teacher, the answer is SAD
because they look unhappy.

Yes, Teacher! It’s 4 Pics 1 Word.

Yes, (Name of Student 6)?

Yes, we are!

Very good, (Name of Student 6)!

Students, do you know what game it

is?

You got it right! Now, you are

stand up. Give yourself a ‘Get Get (No one raised a hand.)
Aw!’ clap.

Now, based on the game that you

played, what have you noticed?
(Student 8 raised her hand.)
Yes, (Name of Student 7)?
Student 8: It will be about the kinds of
water, Teacher.
Very good! How about the others?

Okay, class. Teacher has something (Student 9 raised her hand.)

to ask you. Your classmate said that
they all have water and that is Student 9: Anyong Tubig, Teacher!
correct. If they all have water, what
do you think is our lesson for
today? Bodies of Water!

Yes, (Name of Student 8)?

You are closer to it, (Name of

Student 8)! Anyone in the class?

Yes, (Name of Student 9)?

Very good, (Name of Student 9)! In

English, it is?

E. Lesson Proper

Our lesson for today is all about

Bodies of Water or in Tagalog,
Anyong Tubig.

But before that, did you know that

our country, the Philippines,
consists of 7, 641 islands? Our
country is surrounded by seas and
oceans such as South China Sea,
Pacific Ocean, and Sulu and
Celebes Seas.
And now, we will talk about Bodies
of Water. Water bodies constitute
areas of water – both salt and fresh,
large and small – which are distinct
from one another in various ways.
They range in size from oceans at
the biggest end of the spectrum to
little brooks and streams;
geographers normally don’t include
small, temporary water features
such as puddles in this category.

Some types of the Bodies of Water:

Ocean, Sea, River, Gulf, Lake, Bay,
Spring, Waterfall, Brook, and Strait. Student 10: Ocean or Karagatan is a
major body of saline water that, in

1. Ocean or Karagatan is a major
body of saline water that, in
totality, covers about 71% of
the Earth's surface.

Okay, thank you! Among the types

of Bodies of Water, the ocean is the
deepest, widest, and biggest. The
water is also salty. The Philippines
is near to the Pacific Ocean which is
found in the east part of the
Philippines.
Example:
 Pacific Ocean
 Atlantic Ocean

Can you please read number 2, Student 11: Sea or Dagat is a large

an ocean, or a large, usually saline, lake
that lacks a natural outlet. In common
usage, often synonymous with ocean.

lake that lacks a natural outlet. In
common usage, often synonymous
with ocean.

Thank you, (Name of Student 11)! Yes, Teacher!

Yes, (Name of Student 12)?

They are not the same, class. The

sea is only a part of the ocean. The
water in the sea is also salty and
hotter than the ocean. Seas are
generally smaller than the ocean
and are located at the point where
the ocean meets land. Also, seas are
often enclosed by land. Ocean,
therefore, represents a much larger
body of open water than a sea.

Student 12: River or Ilog is a natural

waterway usually formed by water
derived from either precipitation or
glacial meltwater and flows from higher
ground to lower ground.
Example:
 West Philippine Sea
 South Celebes Sea

Do you understand the difference

between the ocean and the sea,
students?

Okay, good!

(Name of Student 12), can you read

number 3?
3. River or Ilog is a natural

less than one percent salt. Rivers are
bodies of water that move from
areas of higher elevation, such as
mountains, to places of lower
elevation, like oceans.
Example:
 Cagayan River or Ilog
Cagayan
 Pasig River or Ilog Pasig

Can you read number 4, (Name of

penetrates land. Gulfs vary greatly
in size, shape, and depth. They are
generally larger and more deeply
intended than bays. Gulfs can also
have wide openings and are
sometimes indistinguishable from
larger bodies of water.
Example:
 Leyte Gulf in Visayas
 Lingayen Gulf
Do you understand what the Gulf is,
class?

Very good. Let’s proceed to Lake.

Read it, (Name of Student 14).
5. Lake or Lawa is a body of water
or other liquid, but usually
freshwater, of considerable size
contained on a body of land.

Student 15: Bay or Look is an area of

water bordered by land on three sides.

Okay, thank you (Name of Student

14).
Lakes range from shallow
(sometimes less than 1 meter deep)
to very deep. Lake as a natural
water body which contains water
almost throughout the year. Lakes
are much deeper compared to
ponds.
Example:
 Lanao Lake in Lanao del
Sur
 Taal Lake in Batangas

Number 6, Bay. Can you read it,

(Name of Student 15)?
6. Bay or Look is an area of water
bordered by land on three sides. Yes, Teacher!
Thank you, (Name of Student 15).
A bay landform is a body of water
that is partially surrounded by land.
You may think of it as a large lake

inland but a bay has a much smaller
opening. A gulf is also much larger
than a bay and usually has to do
with oceans. Overall, a bay is
smaller than a gulf.

Example:
 Ormoc Bay
 Batangas Bay
Do you understand the difference
between the Bay and the Gulf, my
dear students? Yes, Teacher!

Very good! Let’s proceed to

number 7, Spring. Can you read it,
(Name of Student 16)?
7. Spring or Bukal is a point where
groundwater flows out of the
ground and is thus where the aquifer
surface meets the ground surface.

Student 17: Waterfall or Talon is a place

where flowing water rapidly drops in
elevation as it flows over a steep region
or a cliff.

Thank you for reading, (Name of

Student 16).
A spring is a location where
groundwater naturally emerges
from the Earth's subsurface in a
defined flow and in an amount large
enough to form a pool or stream-
like flow. Springs can discharge
fresh groundwater either onto the (Student 18 raised her hand.)
ground surface, directly into the
beds of rivers or streams, or directly
into the ocean below sea level.
Example: Student 18: Yes, Teacher. I know a

class?

Good! Let’s talk about waterfalls.

For sure, everyone in this class
knows what a waterfall is. Can you
read it, (Name of Student 17)?
8. Waterfall or Talon is a place
where flowing water rapidly drops Yes, Teacher!
in elevation as it flows over a steep
region or a cliff.

Thank you, (Name of Student 17).

A waterfall is a river or other body
of water's steep fall over a rocky
ledge into a plunge pool below.
Waterfalls are also called cascades.
Often, waterfalls form as streams
flow from soft rock to hard rock.
Student 19: Brook or Batis is a small
This happens both laterally (as a
stream flow across the earth) and stream that’s continuously flowing.
vertically (as the stream drops in a
waterfall). In both cases, the soft
rock erodes, leaving a hard ledge
over which the stream falls.

Yes, (Name of Student 18)? Do you

have something to say or ask?

Yes, Teacher!

Yes, very good! Maria Cristina

Falls is one of the famous waterfalls
here in our country. I’ve been there
also, and I can say that it is truly
beautiful. Every part of our nature is
beautiful, right students?

Here are some examples of

waterfall here in our country.
Example:
 Maria Cristina Falls in Iligan
City Student 20: Strait or Kipot is a narrow
 Pagsanjan Falls or Cavinti channel of water that connects two larger
Falls in Laguna bodies of water, and thus lies between
two land masses.
Can you please read number 9,
(Name of Student 19)?
9. Brook or Batis is a small stream
that’s continuously flowing.

Brook refers to small and shallow

stream. It is smaller than creeks and
rivers. It has a current but is very
shallow and easily forded.
Example:
 Bolilao Brook in Aklan
 Sta. Maria Brook in Laguna
Do you understand what Brook is,
class?

Very good! Let’s proceed to Strait.

Read it, (Name of Student 20).
10. Strait or Kipot is a narrow
channel of water that connects two
larger bodies of water, and thus lies
between two land masses.

Yes, Teacher!

Water flow is in both directions and

is tidal. Most importantly, straits are
naturally formed without human
intervention. Some straits are not
navigable, for example, because
(Student 21 raised her hand.)
they are too narrow or shallow, or
because they contain unnavigable
reefs or archipelagoes. Student 21: Ocean, Sea, Brook, Strait,
Example: and Gulf
 San Juanico Strait
 Guimaras Strait

Before I end the discussion, Teacher

has something to tell you. Water is
(Student 22 raised her hand.)
one of the most important natural
resources on earth and it can be
found in various forms on earth. Student 22: Teacher, it is Waterfall!
There are various water bodies
which divide into categories of salt
and fresh as well as small and large.
Their features differentiate them
from each other. All of these are
bodies of water which carry the
utmost importance for life on earth. (Student 23 raised her hand.)

Water is fundamental to our Student 23: Sea, Teacher!

survival. It is a unique and
irreplaceable resource. It also has an
impact on the future of young
people by reducing absenteeism
from school. Investing in water and
sanitation is investing in our lives, in (Student 24 raised her hand.)
health, poverty eradication, food
security, access to education, gender Student 24: Brook!
equality, and environmental
sustainability.

F. Generalization
We are now at the end of our
discussion class. Did you understand
everything that has been discussed?
(Student 25 raised her hand.)
Let’s see if you really understand
everything. I will be asking you Student 25: Ocean, Sea, River, Gulf,
questions, okay? Just raise your Lake, Bay, Spring, Waterfall, Brook,
hand if you know the answer.

over a steep region or a cliff.

Yes, (Name of Student 22)?

Great!
3. It is only a part of the Ocean. It is
generally smaller than the ocean and
is located at the point where the
ocean meets land. Yes, Teacher!

(The students went to their groupmates.)

understand our lesson.

4. It is a small stream that’s

continuously flowing.

Yes, (Name of Student 24)?

Wow! You really amazed me, my

dear children! Yes, Teacher!

And lastly…

5. Give all the types of Bodies of

Water that were discussed earlier.

Yes, (Name of Student 25)?

Yes, Teacher!
Great job, my students! Because of
that, do the ‘Get, Get, Aw!’ Clap!

G. Application

Now, let’s go to the exciting part! I

will group you into 3 because you
are going to have a group activity.
Who’s excited?

Listen carefully because I will

announce your groupmates.

(The teacher announced the group

and its members.)

You may now go to your

groupmates. Keep quiet, class. Do
not shout and make a noise, okay?

Very Good, Amazing, Get, Get, Aw!

Are you all with your groupmates?

Okay, good. Now, listen to Teacher.

I will give you some pictures. First,
you will identify what type of
Bodies of Water it is. Second, you
will paste the pictures under what
type of Bodies of Water it is. For
example, if it is under the Ocean,
you will paste it there. Do you
understand, class?

Third and last, if you are finished,

go to Teacher and tell her your
favorite type of Bodies of Water by
whispering.

Class, do not shout and run. If

anyone from your group shouted
and ran, I will give you a deduction
points. Are we all clear?

Once you hear my whistle, you may

now start.

(The teacher whistled, and the

group activity started.)

(The group activity ended.)

Let’s see if your answers are

correct! Congratulations to Group 1
for being the fastest group! But,
let’s see if their answers are correct.

(The teacher checked all the

activity.)

Wow! You are all amazing, my

students! You did a great job
because you got high scores!
Because of that, let’s do the ‘Get,
Get, Aw!’ clap!

Okay, class. You may now go back

to your proper seats because you
will be going to have a short quiz.

IV. EVALUATION
V. ASSIGNMENT
Search for at least 3 pictures of the different types of Bodies of Water that you want to
visit someday. You can print or draw them on short bond paper. Under the picture, explain why
you want to visit it for at least 2 sentences.
