Overview of the Curriculum Development Process

Curriculum development is the multi-step process of creating and improving a course taught at a
school or university. While the exact process will vary from institution to institution, the broad
framework includes stages of analysis, building, implementation, and evaluation.

In many ways, the need for curriculum development is self-evident. Just imagine trying to teach
each day in a lecture hall or K-12 classroom without a plan in place! A thoughtfully developed
curriculum provides educators with a useful framework to build upon during day-to-day instruction.
Curriculum development takes care of the big-picture strategy required to successfully teach a
course. Because decisions like course objectives, content sequencing, and delivery methods are
made upfront, instructors can focus on smaller details like planning for a specific lecture or writing
effective assessments. Curriculum development allows teachers to take a thoughtful and methodical
approach to determine what students will be required to learn. The early phases of the process
involve deep research and analysis to ensure that students get the best education possible.

When done correctly, process-driven curriculum development strategies will set your course up for
long-term success. With the right framework at your fingertips, you'll be equipped to make
improvements as circumstances change for your students, your subject, and society. Once you have
your course plans in place, you may want to consider partnering with educational design experts to
create custom digital course materials that actively support your unique curriculum. This ensures a
student-focused approach across all areas of your course for more effective learning outcomes.
Enhancing Curriculum in Philippine Schools in Response to Global Community Challenges

This life is ever so challenging as with the world is ever fast changing so as for schools to be able to
cope up with the fast track pace of this revolutionize step pf the way either social or technological
change there must be something that needs to be done in the way lessons in schools are delivered.
That’s what this article is specifically talking about. Upgrading the curricular program in all levels,
in which the curriculum must have to be geared towards social and technological advancement.

Consideration on enhancing the curriculum design is of great advantage not only to every institution
but for the whole community it serves. The curriculum change considers many factors. Indeed, they
specifically provide differing curricular programs that cater to the competencies and skills of every
learner. With the ideals of realistic changes of the curriculum for the 21 st century the study
envisioned of the following computer-based, environment-focused, research-oriented, technology
enriched, value-taken, community-involved and industry-linked. All are equally significant in
achieving and transforming graduates who would only become academically well verse but also
made them able to undertake their goals and dreams in life as an efficient and effective person as a
whole.

The study is ideal since information is based on studies and theories. However, for me this study is
all in vain when the target learners are not reached. Reality check there is mismatch among the
graduates with the skills they have. Few reasons I find very vital in pursuing a college degree. First
among it is where parental consent is always considered in the selection of degree to pursue college,
thus no longer considering the inherent skill of the learner. Once the parent chose the degree that
they wish their student would pursue, then they would force the student to enroll even if it does not
suit the skill and interest.
Filipino teachers’ experiences as curriculum policy implementers in the evolving K to 12
landscapes.

Education was the most essential tool for everyone to become successful in life. It encouraged
everyone to step forward and excel in creating positive effects where recognition and achievement
can be acquired. It provided everyone the ability to think critically in both ways, to get a better
decision in order to cope and handle different life challenges and generated motivation for everyone
to have better prospects needed to grow on their own chosen path in life.

Learning was considered to be something that would bring change to any individual. The result of
learning may not be observed until an individual engages in different academic activities. In the
teaching field, learning was considered to be the most essential goal that a teacher must achieve at
the end of the lesson. Students learned best if the discussion was interesting and required the
participation of the audience. In view of this idea, teachers adapted different teaching strategies to
ensure that the delivery of instructions was successfully transmitted to the mind of the students in an
effective way. Teaching strategies must be assessed by the teachers to make sure its effectiveness as
it was used during discussion.

The implementation of the K to 12 programs in the Philippines gave different impressions and
speculations from teachers, parents, and students who were greatly involved in this change if this
helped the country improved its system in the field of education to match it with the demand of the
global market.
