F. Move the probe across the 0,2 mm slot in the calibration standard and confirm that the indication on the
screen is greater than 10% of the screen height.

6 Inspection Procedure (refer to Figure 04 in Annex 2)

A. Select appropriate probe for each inspection area as recommended:

 Selected probe MZP9003-60 to perform the inspection of the fillet radius near the lugs.
 Select straight probe to perform the inspection of the rest of the fillet radius, the direct accessible lug
surface, the HTP attachment fitting edge and the fittings surface near the fillet radius.
 Selected probe MZP9003-60 to perform the inspection of the lugs around the bushing if there is a gap
between lugs greater than 2.5 mm. In contrary case flat blade probe must be used
B. Place the selected probe on the fitting surface (compensation point) and press Null to adjust the zero of the
instrument in the screen.
NOTE: One compensation point will be selected for each different area.

C. Alternatively place and move the probe away from the compensation point while adjusting the phase angle
to get a horizontal lift-off response. Do not modify any other of the parameters got during calibration.
D. Slide the right angle probe across the fillet radius near the lugs using the scanning movements indicated in
figure 04 (Annex 2).
E. Slide the straight pencil probe across the rest of the fillet radius in the same way.
F. Slide the pencil probe around the bushing of the direct accessible lug surface, along the fitting thickness and
over the fitting surface as close as possible to the edge and, as indicated in figure 04 (Annex 2).
G. Slide the selected probe on both surfaces of each lug as close as possible to the fitting bushing.
H. Any screen indication similar to that shown in Figure 06 (Annex 2) greater than 10% FSH not caused by the
bushing edge effect or any other geometrical effect shall be considered as a crack.
I. Record position of any crack indication.
J. Evaluate the length of any crack scanning from the point of maximum amplitude towards its side in parallel
scanning paths with 1 mm index up to the point where the amplitude reduces to 10% FSH.

7 Acceptance criteria

All indication which cause screen deflection equal or greater than 10% FSH above the zero point similar to that shown in
Figure 06 (Annex 2) not caused by edge effect, the effect of the bushing or any other geometrical effect shall be
