症状

2TB and 3TB drives firmware upgraded to C442 from C1D6 on VNX1 can experience 06/24/04 self-initiate resets every 30 minutes resulting in potential DU/DL event.

Affected Part numbers 005049449, 005050329, 005049450, 005050330, 005049453, 005050331, 005049454 and 005050332.

原因
Due to a firmware issue in the drive s internal logging area structure between C1D6 and C442 firmware, after six or more years of continuous run time, drive firmware update
from C1D6 to C442 will cause 06/29/04 self-initiated resets

Drives would need the following conditions:

Drives are operating in a VNX1 array (VNX5100, VNX5150, VNX5300, VNX5500, VNX5700, VNX7500)
Drives running C1D6 firmware AND >~7 years of run time AND updated firmware to C442 using any of the following drive firmware bundles:

VNX_series_1_and_2_Comprehensive_Drive_Firmware_Bundle_V1_June_02_2016 thru VNX_Series_1_and_2_Comprehensive_Drive_Firmware_Bundle_V9_March_12_2019

解决方案

Dell EMC Engineering has released a new drive firmware bundle which removed C442 drive firmware to prevent future
incidents. VNX_series_1_and_2_Comprehensive_Drive_Firmware_Bundle_V10_Jun_18_2019
If the drive is offline and the rebuild did not complete, replace the drive with an equivalent model.

If your drive meets the description above and is affected by this issue, open SR and escalate. EE will have firmware to correct the self-initiated resets from occurring or correct
existing drives with the issue.

Corrective action for EE (needs more detailed instructions from engineering on the CLI commands to load the FW):
o Drives that exhibit the 06/29/04 issue and others not exhibiting errors which matching the part numbers should follow this procedure if it is suspected to match the conditions
mentioned above

o Failed drives would need to be power cycled to bring them back online
o Load bridged code to correct the issue
