Neetu's paper money
Nitu’s Mum buys vegetables. She gives money. Nitu’s Dad buys new tools. He gives money.
That is so funny. Money is just coloured paper. Why do people buy things with money? I will make my
own money, she thinks.
Nitu takes out her crayons. She takes some paper. She colours some paper pink, some blue, and
some green. Now she has money. She goes to the toy shop. She says, “I want to buy a doll. Here is
some money.”
The shopkeeper says, “Sorry. That's not real money. It is just coloured paper.”
Nitu asks her dad about money. He says that money is a special paper. He says you have to
work to earn money. That is the money you can spend.
“Can I earn some money? Can I work?” Nitu asks.
“Yes,” says her dad. “You can clean my cycle. I will pay you.”
Nitu cleans Dad’s cycle. Dad pays her twenty rupees. She goes to the toy shop. She buys a doll.
Nitu is happy. She knows what money is now.
