EGYCOAT 213 GR

PRODUCT EGYCOAT 213 GR is a spirit based graphite coating for use with cast iron of all types and for
DESCRIBTION application to cores and moulds made by most processes.

APPLICATIONS EGYCOAT 213 GR is an excellent mould and core dressing for high quality casting from, cast iron,
copper and nickel base alloys and very effective where conditions promoting severe erosion prevail.

EGYCOAT 213 GR carried in volatile liquids which are inflammable for ignition and burning – off after
application

ADVANTAGES Drying is very convenient, and any method can be adopted without cracking or blistering of the coating.
Low direct cost as single coating may be applied due to high graphite content that gives good covering
power and good surface.
Excellent surfaces finish castings and hence reduced fettling costs.

USAGE EGYCOAT 213 GR pastes are diluted to the consistency required for application. Creazs are applied in
INSTRUCTION the condition in which they are supplied.
In coating moulds and cores, the most important requirement is to obtain an even coating over all the metal /
sand contact areas. This is best achieved by spraying but can also be obtained by brushing, swabbing and,
in the case of cores, by dipping or over pouring.
When spraying, a good dense delivery is best since a fine spray is likely to suffer from premature
evaporation of the carrier and a deposit of an unsatisfactory coating. It is essential always to ensure that a
coating is well mixed and suspended before application.
With flash-drying coatings the EGYCOAT 213 GR is applied and the carrier ignited. It burns off leaving
an even, dry coating. If damp patches persist, these should be dried by light torching before closing the
mould.
