From ME to YOU…
As we gather to celebrate the Third Sunday of Easter, we reflect
on the powerful message conveyed in the Gospel of Luke
(24:35-48). In this passage, we witness the resurrected Christ
appearing to his disciples, offering them peace, and opening
their minds to understand the Scriptures.
The disciples were initially filled with doubt and confusion, but
Jesus, in his infinite mercy and love, reassured them of his
presence and encouraged them to believe. He showed them his
hands and feet, bearing the marks of his crucifixion, to
strengthen their faith and help them comprehend the
fulfilment of the Scriptures.
This encounter reminds us of the importance of faith and trust in
God's plan, even in times of uncertainty and doubt. Just as
Jesus reassured his disciples, he also reassures us today that
he is always with us, guiding us and offering us his peace.
As we reflect on this Gospel passage, let us also draw
inspiration from the lives of the saints who have gone before us.
Saints like Saint Augustine of Hippo, whose conversion
experience reminds us of the transformative power of God's
grace. Saint Teresa of Calcutta, whose selfless love for the poor
and marginalized teaches us about the importance of
compassion and service. And Saint Francis of Assisi, whose life
of simplicity and devotion to Christ challenges us to live more
fully in accordance with the Gospel.
These saints, and countless others, were ordinary men and
women who responded to God's call with extraordinary faith and
courage. Their lives serve as examples for us to emulate as we
strive to grow closer to God and live as faithful disciples of
Christ.
As we continue our journey of faith, may we always remember
the words of Jesus, "Peace be with you," and may his
presence and peace sustain us in all that we do.
