field at an axial point due to current carrying circular coil)

Instructions:
* All parts are compulsory
* Answer without relevant diagram/figure/circuit wherever necessary will not carry any marks
* Numerical problems solved without writing the relevant formulae carry no marks

PART – A
I. Answer the following questions [5 × 1 = 5]
1. Draw the neat diagram of image formed by concave mirror when the object placed
at centre of curvature
2. Write down the expression for the force on a current carrying conductor placed in a
magnetic field?
3. How does the power of lens vary with its focal length?
4. The sequence of colour bands on carbon resistor is green, yellow and silver. Write
its value in ohm
5. State snell’s law of refraction of light?

PART – B
II. Answer any THREE of the following [3 × 2 = 6]
6. What is myopia? Why it occurs? How to correct it?
7. Explain Fleming’s left hand rule
8. What is dispersion? Define a Dispersive power which depends only on the material
of the prism for its dispersion. Obtain an expression for it
9. Define electric current? Is it a scalar quantity or a vector quantity?

PART – C
III. Answer any THREE of the following [3 × 3 = 9]
10. Write the expressions for electrical energy and electrical power. Define kilowatt
hour unit of energy and show that 1 k Wh is equal to how many joules.
11. Derive the relation between focal length and radius of curvature of spherical mirrors

angle of the prism and angle of minimum deviation
15. Derive the condition for balance of Wheatstones Bridge using Kirchoff’s laws
16. Derive an expression for magnetic field strength at any point on the axis of a
circular current loops using Biot–Savart’s law

D2
V Answer any ONE of the following [1 × 5 = 5]
17. A small bulb is placed at the bottom of a tank containing water to a depth of 80 cm.
What is the area of the surface of water through which light from the bulb can
emerge out? Refractive index of water is 1.33. (Consider the bulb to be a point
source)
18. Two cells of emf 2V and 4V and internal resistance 1Ω and 2Ω respectively are
connected in parallel so as to send the current in the same direction through an
external resistance of 10Ω. Find the potential difference across 10Ω resister.
