QUESTION: Should men and women be equal in all aspects of life or,
should they complement each other’s unique needs and differences?

TITLE Men and Women: Embracing One’s Uniqueness through Combating Gender Stereotypes

MY Is it true that the society is the one who judge men and women and brings the gap? “There should be a Gender
POSITION Equality for this, for that...” A familiar line that everyone of us repeatedly hears almost every day of our lives. Yes,
ON THE aside from their obvious physical differences, there is a totally differences between them in terms of how they
ISSUE make decisions, behavior, and other more but this is not the reason to treat them unequally. As a man, I am for
the both that even men and women have differences, we should have enough space and opportunity to enhance
more our uniqueness as this will be our way to express our deeper selves too.
We all know that in terms of physical structure, men are much stronger than a woman. So, when people are
trying to speak about gender equality, sometimes it will be misinterpreted as the general idea that women should
be equal to men when it comes to opportunities. Other familiar lines were “Give way for ladies” or say for
example inside the bus, where there’s a lot of passenger who are in standing, we commonly hear the “Be
gentleman”. Then, if there is gender equality, why there are still one who is privileged than the others? Nature
has created physical differences between men and women. Men are consistently stronger and bigger than
women. Men are thus physically superior. Does this imply that women are definitely inferior in nature? No, I
would say. Women are capable of giving birth while men are not. Men can do a lot of things that women can't,
and women can do things that men can't. There are, however, some areas where men and women perform
equally well. Yet, they have differences and one’s each uniqueness but the main point is, they do not survive, if
one does not exist because in the basis of nature, men and women are created and they will survive if both of
them coexist. They are complimentary with each other, wherein neither can survive without the other, they are
partner in all times. Men and women must recognize their equal roles and try to complement one another in their
common quest to enhance life. Men must focus on using their dominant abilities for the good in order to correct
male dominance misuse. Only when respect and reward are equal will gender equality be realized.
