Note: This pattern is crocheted in continuous rows (you will not join each row).
Head
With white yarn,
Row 1: Chain 2, 6 single crochet in first chain. (6 sts)
R2: Single crochet 2 in each stitch around. (12 sts)
R3: (Single crochet 1, 2 single crochet in next st), 6 times. (18 sts)
R4: (Sc 2, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (24 sts)
R5: (Sc 3, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (30 sts)
R6: (Sc 4, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (36 sts)
Switch to brown,
R7-15: Sc 36. (9 total rows)
Here, pause on the head to cut out the felt pieces for around
the eyes. Each felt piece should be about 1.625 inches (4.13
cm) long and 1 inch (2.54 cm) tall. See picture on the right
for the shape recommendation. Cut a tiny slit in the eyes as
shown by the white line in the picture. Insert the safety eyes
into this slit and insert the eyes into the sloth's face between R4 and R5. Then firmly press the backs
onto the eyes. You will sew these felt pieces down later.
Note: When placing the eyes, you can make sure one of the felt pieces around the eye covers your color
change from white to brown!
Fasten off, leaving a yarn tail. Thread this tail onto your yarn needle and sew the opening at the back of
the head closed. Weave in your end.
Then take another strand of black yarn, and pull it into two separate
strands, so that you are only working with half of the original
thickness of the yarn. Use this to sew a mouth two rows down from
the nose as pictured to the right.
Now, use dark brown sewing thread and a sewing needle to sew on
the felt pieces, as pictured to the right. Sew from the outside of the
felt, down into the head and back out through the top of the felt. Sew
all the way around until each felt piece is securely attached.
Note: You can use fabric glue to glue the pieces of felt to the head if
you prefer.

R4: (Sc 2, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (24 sts)
R5: (Sc 5, 2 sc in next st), 4 times. (28 sts)
R6-10: Sc 28. (5 total rows)
