I'd like to talk about my roommate from my
first and second year of university, Linh, who

mainly on the monthly allowance sent by
our parents for food and rent. This made
trips to the market a crucial part of our
routine.
Linh was always the one to take charge during
our market visits because, unlike me, she
wasn't shy about bargaining. She had a keen
eye for deals and could haggle down prices
effortlessly. Whenever we bought fish or
meat for the week, Linh would confidently
negotiate with the vendors. For instance, if a
seller quoted 100,000 VND, Linh would
skillfully bargain it down to 60 or 70,000
VND, often mentioning our student budget,
which the sellers found sympathetic. It was
quite impressive to see how she managed to
