Introduction

Uride is a ridesharing app designed specifically for university students, particularly

those attending the Universidad Tecnológica de Tamaulipas Norte (UTTN). The
app aims to alleviate challenges related to commuting, tardiness, and hindered
academic performance by providing a customized and cost-effective
transportation solution.

Our Code of Ethics serves as the cornerstone of our operations, guiding every
decision and action we take. Rooted in principles of integrity and accountability,
it outlines the standards by which we conduct ourselves, ensuring honesty,
fairness, and compliance with legal and ethical requirements.

1
Code of Ethics

A code of ethics is broader in its nature, outlining what is acceptable for the
company in terms of integrity and how it operates. A code of conduct is more
focused in nature and instructs how a business' employees should act daily and
in specific situations, which links these to the values and principles of the
organization. (Hayes, 2023)

At Uride, we recognize the importance of maintaining ethical standards and

conducting our business with integrity. Our code of ethics serves as a guiding
framework for all our employees, outlining the principles and values that govern
our operations.

Organizational Ethics

According to Verlinden (n.d.), organizational ethics, also called business ethics,

are the guidelines that shape how people in a company behave. They aim to
prevent harmful actions and are typically outlined in a code of conduct, setting
moral and ethical standards for employees and the organization.

2
Based on the organizational ethics of other companies, Uride Ridesharing
Company has developed organizational ethics that are fundamental to our
operations.

• Integrity: We uphold the highest standards of integrity in all our actions,

ensuring honesty, transparency, and fairness in every interaction with our
stakeholders.

• Confidentiality: We respect the privacy and confidentiality of all user

information, ensuring that sensitive data is handled securely and ethically.

• Accountability: We take responsibility for our actions and decisions, both

individually and collectively, and strive to meet the highest standards of
professionalism in all aspects of our work.

• Compliance: We adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and industry

standards, ensuring full compliance with legal and ethical requirements in all
our operations.

Values

At Uride, our foundation is built upon four core values that shape every aspect of
our operations: responsibility, transparency, trust, and privacy. These values

guide our decisions, actions, and interactions, reflecting our unwavering
commitment to ethical business practices and customer satisfaction.

• Responsibility: At Uride, we take responsibility for our actions and decisions.

We recognize the impact of our choices on our customers, employees, and the
environment. We prioritize accountability and strive to fulfill our obligations to
all stakeholders.

• Transparency: Transparency is key to building trust and fostering open

communication. At Uride, we believe in being transparent about our practices,
policies, and performance. We provide clear and accurate information to our
stakeholders, enabling them to make informed decisions.

• Trust: Trust is the foundation of our relationships with our customers,

employees, and partners. At Uride, we prioritize building and maintaining trust
through honesty, reliability, and consistency. We earn trust by delivering on
our promises and acting with integrity in all our endeavors.

• Privacy: At Uride, employees are prohibited from accessing passenger and

associated driver information unless it is directly related to their job functions.

4
Social Responsibility

Social responsibility is an ethical focus for individuals and companies whereby

they seek to take action and be accountable for practices that benefit society.
(Ganti, 2024)

At Uride, our vision is centered on building a sustainable business model that

prioritizes community engagement and social responsibility. We are committed to
transforming the student transportation experience for the better.

• Social Responsibility: At Uride, we focus on providing transportation tailored

for students while also contributing positively to the community.

• Safety: Safety is our top priority at Uride. We ensure that students and drivers
stay safe throughout their journey.

• Inclusion: We believe every student should have access to transportation. Our

platform is designed to accommodate all students, ensuring everyone feels
welcome.

• Community Engagement: We actively engage with the student community and

local organizations to support causes important to students.

5
Conclusion

In crafting Uride's ethical codes, I drew inspiration from Uber's publicly available
ethical codes, making the process straightforward. By adapting Uber's ethical
code to focus on the specific needs of university students, Uride prioritizes
community engagement and social responsibility, with a dedication to enhancing
the transportation experience for students. This school-centric approach
underscores our commitment to serving our target community and aligning our
values with their needs. With this ethical code, Uride wants to build trust, make
sure everyone does their part, and have a positive impact. Our aim is to make
student life at Universidad Tecnológica de Tamaulipas Norte better, and even
beyond that.
