 B) Important Places
1) Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy,
Temple Simhachalam is situated on the
Simhachalam hill range, which is 300
meters above the sea level in
Visakhapatnam built by Eastern Ganga
king Narasingha Deva I in the 13th
Centuary and consecrated by his son
Bhanudeva I in 1268AD.
As per the sthala puraana, Lord Vishnu
manifested in the form “Varaha avathara”
after saving his devotee Prahlada from a
murder attempt by his father
Hiranyakashipu.
Except on Akshaya Trutiya, the idol of
2) TTD Venkateswara Swamy Varaha Narasimha is covered with
The temple of the Sri Venkateshwara
Temple sandalwood paste throughout the year.
Swamy, built by the Tirumala tirupathi
Devasthanams (TTD) on 10 Acres of land
atop a hill near Rushikonda has opened to
the public for darshan from March-23.
The temple was constructed at a cost of
Rs.28 crores. The rituals at this temple
would be conducted on the lines of Sri
Venkateshwara Swamy temple at
Tirumala.
The rituals will begin at 5:00 a.m.
Devotees will be allowed for darshan from
 3) Indira Gandhi Zoological Park -
Vizag
Is located amidst Kambalakonda Reserve
forest in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
It is the 3rd largest zoo in the country
covering an area of 625 Acres (253 ha). The
Zoological Park is named after the former
Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi
and declared open to the public on 19 May
1977.
In February 2022, the zoo was received
accreditation from the World Association
of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) for
coordinating a successful dhole breeding

Is a public business school and Institute
of National Importance located in
Visakhapatnam. It is one of the twenty
Indian Institutes of Management. The
institution started the first batch of its
Post Graduate Program (PGP) in
Management from August 2015.
Visakhapatnam is the largest city in
Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The city
is the administrative headquarters of
Visakhapatnam district and the Eastern
Naval Command of Indian Navy.
 5) INS Kalinga - Vizag
Is a premier Naval Establishment located on the
Visakhapatnam – Bheemunipatnam beach road.
It is about 25 km from the city and 40km from the
naval base.
INS Kalinga was commissioned in 21 Nov 1985
and over the past 37 years, the Establishment ha
sgrown into a fully fledged station with co-located
units such as MARCOS (E), NAD (V), NAI (V),
and MES.
INS Kalinga is responsible for preparing, storing
and delivering advanced missiles to ships of
Eastern Fleet.
6) IT Park -
Rushikonada
With a strategy to develop
industrial corridors of
international standards for
expanding its manufacturing and
service sectors, the Government
of India has allocated IT corridor
in Visakhapatnam on Hill No 1,
Hill No 2 and Hill No 3 located at
Rushikonda which is commonly
referred as IT SEZ, Rushikonda.
 7) Health City - Arilova

Visakhapatnam Health City at

Arilova area in Vizag was launched
with eight operational hospitals,
Andhra Pradesh Industrial
Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC)
and the GVMC to create basic
infrastructure at Health City. The
APIIC has allotted 66 acres of land
for Health City

Palem
Dr. Y. S. Rajashekar Reddy ACA–VDCA Cricket
Stadium (also known as Dr. Y. S. Rajashekar Reddy
Andhra Cricket Association–Visakhapatnam District
Cricket Association Cricket Stadium; formerly
known as ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium) is a multi-
purpose stadium in Visakhapatnam, Andhra
Pradesh, India. It is primarily used for international
cricket matches, and also a proposed future home
ground for I-League club Sreenidhi Deccan FC. The
stadium has two-tiers and was designed to avoid any
restricted view seats, eliminating pillars or columns
which come in the field of view of spectators in some
of the Indian stadiums. The pitch is known to be
batsman-friendly
