BIFFI MORIN Series Actuators

Operating Instructions - Partial Stroke Test Device (PSTD)

The Morin Partial Stroke Test Device (PSTD) is designed to allow an actuated process valve to test
operate without significant impact to the process. The PSTD allows approximately 20° of rotation
from full open or full closed.

Figure 1 Figure 2

The Lock assembly incorporates a lock pin and a safety lock with key. For normal operation the pin
must be out and safety lock closed. The safety lock key is recommended to be kept off-site.

Operation Instructions:
Normal operation: The safety lock is closed and key is removed. A plastic plug is left in the pinhole
to exclude weather and debris (Figure 1).

Test position: Unlock the safety lock mechanism and insert test pin completely . The pin can be
fastened in place during test operation by tightening the retaining screw (Figure 2).

The PSTD is used in conjunction with your plant's normal safety / maintenance program.

CAUTION: The PSTD is not a safety lockout device for OSHA Lockout - Tagout procedures since it
does allow the control valve to have limited operation.
